Trends in home appliances for September’s IFA 2018 in Berlin

At the end of April in Rome, the annual international press conference IFA-2018 took place. Most of the producers and sellers of appliances preferred to keep the innovations a secret until their official announcements at the exhibition, but its management shared their forecasts for the development of this largest in Europe and one of the most influential events in the world in the field of consumer electronics and household appliances.

Thanks to built-in cameras, the user can remotely check the condition of the oven or refrigerator. “Direct” controls using gestures and speech are being introduced.

The benefits of voice control are obvious, as appliances can be used even when hands are busy. Concepts with integrated AI enable appliances that can think, learn and give the user practical tips and tricks. Each new generation of appliances is designed to consume as little electricity, water and detergent as possible. With reduced and improved consumption as well as countless technological innovations, buying new models to replace outdated ones makes sense not only for us, but also for our children: designs that won’t get old for long, less wear and tear and long-lasting performance, quality environmentally friendly materials, quick payback on resource savings.

Both segments of the appliance market – small and large – grew last year as more of them were bought and made. The reasons for this are innovations from manufacturers and more and more versatile and high-tech appliances for the home, making work easier, making life healthier, more comfortable, and, importantly, saving resources.

habits of the “owners”, create and implement suggestions to improve performance and save money, alert on malfunctions and even take corrective measures – from self-diagnostics to communication with service, activate auto-care programs or inform the user of the need for maintenance.
