LG’s advanced smart refrigerator is equipped with several revolutionary technologies, including Smart View function. With a camera built into the top of the fridge compartment for the first time, users can keep track of exactly what’s in there through their smartphones or tablets.
A wide camera angle can show not only the contents of the top shelves, but also the food below. Also, a built-in camera captures the opening and closing of the refrigerator, photographing the food left in it since the last time it was opened.
Thanks to HomeChat™, users can quickly see exactly what they need to buy at the store or supermarket.
LG’s Smart Manager feature transforms the refrigerator into a full-fledged food control system. Through the built-in LCD panel or LG Smart Refrigerator smartphone app, users can check the refrigerator’s contents without having to open it.
Freshness Tracker in Smart Manager lets you specify a wide range of foods and beverages to track their shelf life. Smart Manager can also recommend dishes you can make with the food stored in the fridge.
LG’s unique Health Manager system offers recipe recommendations and makes meal plans, both for the day and for the entire week, based on the owner’s information. Information about gender, age, weight and height is used to determine body mass index BMI , which is then taken into account in creating a personalized menu.
LG’s “smart” washing machine
Through HomeChat™, users can remotely control and monitor their smart washing machine. Simply text “start laundry” and give an estimated time to get home, and the LG washer will ensure the laundry is done by that time.
And if you ask her “What are you doing?”, then the user will get a real-time status about the current stage of washing. “Smart” washing machine LG is equipped with an intuitive screen with touch control, which greatly facilitates the selection and downloading of washing cycles via WiFi connection.

With HomeChat™ and the recipe search feature, owners of smart ovens can discuss recommended recipes for selected dishes with them. When you select “Homecoming Mode” with HomeChat™, the oven asks “What dish would you like to cook today?” and opens a “recipe search” window.
The appliance sets the temperature and cooking time for each dish before it’s ready. Users can receive notifications on their smartphones about new recipes, offering to try new interesting dishes.
After a successful launch in Korea, LG plans to bring HomeChat™-compatible smart refrigerators, washing machines and ovens to other markets
