Total shooting freedom: Canon launches new range of professional accessories

New York America , March 2, 2012. – Canon expands its range of accessories for EOS professional and mid-range DSLR cameras with new models that deliver exceptional versatility and control for creative shooting.

Canon Accessories

Canon’s first flagship Speedlite 600EX-RT with built-in usa triggering. It replaces the Speedlite 580EX II. Combined with the new Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT, this model opens up new possibilities for photographers who want to experiment with light. Canon has also launched the BG-E11 battery grip, Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E7, and GPS Receiver GP-E2, which are all excellent additions to the camera

EOS 5D Mark III. Together they make a compact, affordable solution that makes it easy to shoot in any conditions, whether you’re shooting portraits in a studio or on location.

Speedlite 600EX-RT – even more creative lighting options

The Speedlite 600EX-RT is a powerful TTL flash that meets the demands of today’s professional photographers. Integrated radio triggering, complementing standard IR wireless flash control, delivers stunning results in complex in-camera and remote flash configurations.

Up to 15 600EX-RT flashes, set at distances of up to 30m, can be triggered remotely with one 600EX-RT master flash or the new Wireless Speedlite ST-E3-RT Radio Transmitter.

So photographers can experiment freely with lighting and achieve a variety of effects. The shutter can also be triggered remotely on the EOS camera with a Speedlite 600EX-RT attached. Capture unexpected and dramatic results from custom angles.

Subjects at varying distances can be creatively lit or even brightly illuminated, thanks to an increased guide number of 60m[1] and an illumination angle large enough to illuminate a 20-200mm lens angle of view. Wide-angle setting lets you shoot with lenses at focal lengths of up to 14m.

Rotatable articulated flash head produces beautiful effects without shadows. Reflective panel creates a natural eye glow when shooting portraits in reflected light. You can also customise the flash to suit your requirements – for example, using master number priority to light a subject with a slight darkening effect around the edge of the frame.

Like its predecessor, the Speedlite 600EX-RT transmits white balance settings to the camera via the hot shoe. For more precise control over the balance between flash and ambient light, you can use the new color filter adapter and the two included filters. They allow you to correct the color temperature of the flash and achieve a more natural effect when shooting under incandescent or mercury lamps.

When shooting in dark scenes, photographers can also use the AF Assist Light Beam to precisely focus lenses at 28mm focal length or longer, ensuring the subject is in focus when the flash fires.

Designed for professionals, the Speedlite 600EX-RT and Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT feature a rugged, water-resistant design that matches the EOS-1D X.

The clear LCD display makes it easy to set and switch between normal and wireless flash modes. The Speedlite 600EX-RT is powered by four AA/LR6 batteries, which makes it easy to use. Recharging the flash is quick and quiet so photographers can continue shooting and experimenting with lighting in any conditions.

WFT-E7 – high-speed wireless control

The WFT-E7 is a new wireless transmitter for a wide range of EOS cameras. For those who need quick and easy transfer of images such as photojournalists or sports photographers , the WFT-E7 offers high-speed Wi-Fi connection and Gigabit Ethernet wired connectivity.

802 standard support.11a/b/g/n at up to 150 Mbps and Bluetooth to connect to external GPS devices The new WFT-E7 guarantees ultra-fast file transfer to an FTP server or even a DLNA[2]-compatible HDTV.

When shooting creatively or working in harsh environments that require remote camera control, the WFT server feature of the WFT-E7 will be useful. It lets you access camera settings and viewfinder images from a webpage on any Internet-enabled device, such as a smartphone, tablet or laptop computer.

Camera settings can also be changed remotely using the EOS Utility. This way, photographers can control shooting parameters and shutter release using a wired or wireless network connection.

The WFT-E7 is lightweight, and can be attached to the bottom of the camera, to the new AB-E1 bracket, or even to a belt. Moreover, it supports linked-camera shooting up to ten cameras with wireless time synchronization. This means that the time in all slave devices will match the time in the master camera.

When shooting with linked cameras, the WFT server function can also be activated for easy access to master and slave cameras and even more convenient light control.

GP-E2 – add geotagging to your images with a compact, lightweight GPS receiver

Among other things, Canon has introduced the new GP-E2 GPS receiver. Compact, lightweight and powerful, it connects to the hot shoe and makes it easy to add GPS tags geotags to images.

Compatible with the EOS-1D X, EOS 7D[3] and the new EOS 5D Mark III, the GP-E2 captures longitude, latitude and altitude as well as the direction in which the image was taken, then records the information in the image EXIF file.

GPS tracking allows photographers to track their route: GPS data is downloaded at fixed intervals, while the device is either attached to the camera body or placed in its case.

Once back in the studio, the photographer can add tags to images using GPS data stored in log files, and view his or her route on Google Maps or the included Map Utility.

For accuracy at recording of time of the image creation there is a function of synchronization of camera clock with the world time by loading of the UTC-information from the satellite. This is especially useful for professional photographers shooting with the EOS 5D Mark III, who may need to process all images together and sort them by time of creation.

BG-E11 for more convenience with EOS 5D Mark III

Photographers who would like to increase camera shooting time

EOS 5D Mark III, will appreciate the new ergonomic battery handle BG-E11. Two additional LP-E6 batteries double the life of the rechargeable battery in the camera AA batteries can also be used in case of emergency.

For those who frequently shoot upright such as sports photographers , dual controls for autofocus, focus point selection and exposure lock, plus a second multi controller and second dial. This makes it much more convenient to shoot.

Like the EOS 5D Mark III, the BG-E11 battery grip is made from durable magnesium alloy and meets the same high standard of weatherproofing protection.
