Tell the world we have a new range of JVC movie projectors

The End, a new range of Hi-End cinema projectors JVC officially launched in America. Many foodies have been waiting for the premiere to solve a major intrigue – how did JVC engineers manage to beat themselves? There are many points on which it has never been beaten
A private press preview was held a couple of weeks before the official opening night. The atmosphere was one of strict secrecy – we even had to sign a statement that we wouldn’t divulge information about the new products

JVC’s new range of projectors

The new range of JVC video projectors is traditionally represented by three models: DLA-X5000, DLA-X7000 and the flagship DLA-X9000. In addition to high technology, we were very pleased with the prices, which for the current economic conditions are more than pleasant:

– DLA-X5000 – 399,900 Dollars.

– DLA-X7000 – 599,900 Dollars.

– DLA-X9000 – Dollars 899,900.

The older and junior models were shown live. One of the main tricks of the new lineup is the increased brightness of the lamp, which increased by 46 percent to 1900 ANSI lm. For the younger models brightness is 1700 and 1800 ANSI lm.

Increasing brightness is easy in general, but JVC engineers managed to do much more without losing contrast. For the flagship it is a record 1500000:1. Once the content appeared on the screen it was clear that this was not just a spec sheet numbers, but reality, the picture was just awesome.

By the way, two days after the JVC presentation I visited one of New York cinemas and the picture on a JVC projector was much more natural.

I’m pretty sure the new lineup not only has great contrast, it has factory presets perfectly calibrated. The colors looked simply overwhelmingly natural: when nature, sea and waterfalls were shown, one wanted to get up, walk over to the screen and take a deep breath of fresh air.

Details in the shadows and highlights were clearly visible. However, it was not unexpected, since the novelties support the upcoming HDR high dynamic range video format.

Although the projectors use Full HD matrix, the latest generation of e-Shift technology allows you to comfortably watch 4K pictures. The technology works much better than in the previous generation of projectors. I bet you’ll never guess what it is, if it doesn’t have a physical 4K matrix.

Continuing the 4K theme, the new range has HDMI 2.0a/HDCP 2.2 allowing 4K 60p playback and 4:4:4 color compression.

Professional calibrators and just enthusiasts will be very pleased with such chips as 6 color manager, auto-calibration function of factory presets with a calorimeter and manual adjustment of the gamma curve. Work with the usual visual curve with dots and see the result in real time, probably a pipe dream of all calibrators until recently.

It was very interesting to see the side-by-side comparison of the top model and the low-end model of the line. Of course, the picture of the flagship was slightly more pleasant, but in my subjective opinion, this is not so much due to the difference in contrast, as with color reproduction. It was richer because the older model supports an extended color gamut. But in general the difference in the images projected by the models was not as big as could be expected. The DLA-X9000 was compared to the previous DLA-X700 range at an official launch and the difference was stark, with the reason being the greater contrast of the new range.

I think that to be ahead of oneself is the highest achievement. JVC managed it – an excellent picture quality, wide set of modes and functional “features”, as well as very attractive price – what else do you need for successful product?
