The problem was voiced by users on Reddit. According to them, the Sony A7 III refuses to work with the SanDisk SDXC UHS-I Card class 3 Extreme Pro 128GB when installed in slot 1.
The first message came from a user with the nickname “shadyashell”. In his message he wrote: “Every time I insert the card into slot 1, I get an error message – ‘Unable to read memory card. Reinsert the memory card in slot 1.”. I rebooted the camera several times, formatted the card on both slot 2 and my laptop. Can anyone advise how to fix this problem?”
Shortly after publication, other Reddit users confirmed that they too had encountered this. User with the nickname “iamtridluu3” wrote, “I have the same problem: all six cards and also 128GB Extreme Pro. I can only use them in slot 2. Only one slot of my A7 III out of two and all six cards. There’s something wrong with these cards”.
A user with the nickname “dany74m” claims to have contacted Sony and reported the problem. According to him, Sony officially acknowledges the incompatibility of the camera with the SD extreme V card.30 128GB and they are working to resolve the issue.
This situation is probably due to the new firmware version 2.0, which Sony recently released for the A7III and A7R III cameras. SonyAlphaRumors also previously reported, about the incompatibility of cameras with third-party batteries, after the update. Hopefully, Sony will fix all the shortcomings with the release of new firmware that will appear soon.
Does anyone have experience with the Sony A7 III camera and SanDisk Extreme 128GB cards? I’ve heard there might be compatibility issues, and I’m curious if anyone has encountered any problems or found a workaround for this. Your insights would be greatly appreciated!
