Description:

Foveon X3 sensor color separation is performed in layers according to the thickness of the sensitive material. The image sensor has three 4.69 million layers. Sigma is the world’s leading independent optics manufacturer, so the actual image resolution is not high by today’s standards. Nevertheless, the prints look good in magnification, aided by the tripling of the information in the file. Black and white photos look especially good.

Despite the simple feature set, low maximum sensitivity and low for its price performance this model has a lot of loyal fans because of the peculiar nature of the image. Sigma makes a wide variety of optics for this camera.
