New Samyang AF 14mm F2.8 EF is designed to compete with the recently announced wide-angle from Yongnuo and is in some ways a landmark for the company. For the first time in its history, Samyang has released an autofocus lens for the Canon EF mount.
Samyang AF 14mm F2 optical design.8 EF consists of 15 elements in 10 groups. The optical design uses 2 aspherical, 4 high refractive and 1 ultra-low dispersion glass elements to minimize aberrations and maintain high image quality.
Additionally all lens elements are multi-coated to improve light transmission and enhance contrast by suppressing glare.
The lens has a 166.6-degree angle of view, 7-blade aperture, and moisture and dust protection. Other features include a minimum focus distance of 20cm, 0.15x maximum magnification and a length of -95.6mm. The new lens weighs in at 485g without cap , which is much lighter than the proprietary 14mm F2.Canon’s 8L II IS USM lens, which weighs650g.
Samyang AF 14mm F2 price.8 EF will be $840. Thus, Canon camera owners have another affordable ultra-wide angle lens option. The lens will be on sale from February 2018.
