Samsung Electronics unveiled a new line of QLED TVs that includes the Q9, Q8 and Q7 models. The announcement took place on the sidelines of the international consumer electronics show CES 2017.
“2017 will be a paradigm shift in visual displays. This will happen thanks to the arrival of QLED TVs on the market,” commented Hyun-suk Kim, head of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. – QLED TV allows to reproduce the image as close to reality as possible. We’ve succeeded in negating the television viewing experience that has frustrated users of all traditional displays, which is a fundamental rethinking of what television can do.”.
Better picture quality
Picture quality continues to be a top priority for users when choosing a TV, especially as the average diagonal size of home TV screens increases every year. Samsung’s 2017 line of QLED TVs takes picture quality to a whole new level.
New TV sets provide significantly higher color fidelity of DCI-P3 palette, and, for the first time in the world cover 100% of shades of this palette. This means they’re able to reproduce full color depth at all brightness levels, including subtle tonal differences at the peak of QLED’s 1500 to 2000 nits.
Color depth is the combination of tones reproduced at different brightness levels. For example, a tree leaf can be displayed in different shades, from yellowish green, to turquoise, depending on the lighting. Samsung’s QLED TV screen is capable of showing even the slightest color differences.
This breakthrough is the result of a new metallic quantum dot material that allows the TV screen to reproduce an expanded color range with incredible detail compared to traditional TVs.
The upgraded quantum dot technology allows Samsung’s QLED TVs to display deep black tones with high clarity, regardless of overall brightness
scene and ambient lighting conditions. Moreover, Samsung QLED TVs can provide stunning brightness in the range from 1500 to 2000 nits, without compromising on the accuracy and quality of color rendition. With metal alloy quantum dot technology, image brightness is no longer sacrificed for color quality, and accurate color reproduction is no longer dependent on viewing angles.
With the consumer in mind
Samsung has introduced several new designs for TV users.
“With the new QLED TVs, we offer answers to many important questions that users have, namely cable confusion, thick wall mounts and the difficulty of connecting devices close to the TV,” said Dave Das, senior vice president of consumer electronics marketing for Samsung Electronics America. – Owners of 2017 TV models will be able to enjoy watching movies and TV shows, focusing on the screen instead of around it.”.
Improvements include a single cable that lets you connect all your peripherals. Another innovation is a unique wall mount that allows you to quickly and easily mount your TV on the wall. For those who do not like to hang the TV on the wall, Samsung offers two new stands that can turn Samsung TVs into even more convenient and stylish elements of the interior. Users can choose between the elegant Studio Stand, which looks like an easel, or the massive Gravity Stand, which makes the TV look like an object of modern art.
Samsung’s smartest TV
In 2017, Samsung will focus on further developing the globally recognized Smart TV system that provides easy and unified access to any entertainment content. For example, thanks to Samsung Smart Remote system, users can control most of the peripherals connected to the TV with just one device.
The Smart Hub interface will be extended to smartphones through a new and improved Smart View app, which now provides a detailed view of all available content on the home screen. It allows you to use your mobile devices to select your favorite TV programs and video broadcasts on demand, and launch them on your TV screens through the Smart View mobile app. Users can also set up alerts on their mobile devices when their favorite programs and movies are on the air.
In addition, Samsung introduces two new services for Smart TV. These are Sports, which displays customizable summaries of their favorite sports teams and their upcoming games, and Music, which can recognize and report the names of music tracks playing on the air.
