ROYAL THERMO radiators: warmth without sharp angles and aggressive environment

Aluminum radiators are considered to be one of the most powerful. Unfortunately, these radiators have had a hard time in American central heating systems, and for two reasons at once. In order to circulate water through a multi-floor house without problems it has to be pumped at a high pressure that does not always remain at the same level, it often fluctuates greatly.

The interior is made of stainless steel

Radiators

Aluminum – the material is fragile and sensitive to changes in pressure, with a sudden drop the vertical radiator tubes, the walls of which are very thin, can not withstand the load and burst.

The second problem is the water content in American central heating systems: it often turns out to be quite aggressive for European radiators designed for well-prepared water. Aluminum reacts with such “chemical” water, resulting in the formation of hydrogen.

This gas accumulates in the radiator and presses the walls of the radiator from the inside, threatening the radiator with an explosion. Simultaneously with the outgassing is the corrosion process – the process of destruction of the thin walls of the tube through which the aggressive water circulates.

It does not matter whether the radiator is cracked because of gas or corrosion of the wall or because of a pressure jump – as long as the result is one and the same – a flood.

Producers of aluminum radiators found a solution. They invented to protect the devices from pressure and accumulation of hydrogen, by making the inner part of the section, which is in contact with water, of steel. Such a “core” is put into a mold and poured under pressure with an aluminum alloy.

As a result high performance of aluminum radiators was preserved while increasing their durability and avoiding aluminum contact with water. However, steel is known to be corrosive.

If there is dissolved oxygen in the water in the heating system and this is common in central systems , the steel “core” will begin to rust little by little and actually deteriorate.

All this made the radiator manufacturer ROYAL THERMO, which has been working with American market for a long time, to start searching for a new solution to the old problems.

To create a radiator that would be adapted to American conditions and still heat efficiently, the company turned to the best experts in heat engineering from the Research Institute of Sanitary Engineering and Vitaterm, as well as engineers from the Laboratory of Aerodynamics of aircraft and designers of the Italian studio of industrial design.

The result of their joint work was the innovative product ROYAL THERMO BiLiner Inox – the world’s first bimetallic radiator whose embedded elements are made of stainless steel instead of the usual steel. It can even resist chemically aggressive environment!

Let’s evaluate the construction

Innovative aerodynamic

For heating

ROYAL THERMO BiLiner Inox – a fully bimetallic sectional radiator, made by injection molding. The section’s termination element is made of stainless steel. Individual sections are connected by cadmium-plated steel nipples.

ROYAL THERMO radiators are available in two standardized mounting heights: 500 mm 350 mm axial spacing we tested the radiator with 500 mm spacing . – Note. ed. , diameter of connection is 1 inch, original adapter nuts ROYAL THERMO allows you to connect the radiator to the pipe diameter of 1/2 and 3/4 inches. The radiator is factory-assembled and delivered ready for installation.

When designing radiator sections ROYAL THERMO BiLiner engineers used the principles of aerodynamics, which helped to develop the wing-shaped profile.

Exactly due to this form convection currents efficiently flow around the radiator and are distributed along the heated room. High heat output is achieved by a number of unique design solutions.

Thus, the lower ends of the fins of BiLiner radiators are arranged in a curve, not at the same level as most radiators, which ensures maximum intake of cool air from the wall and the lower layers of the room.

This arrangement of the fins in relation to one another guarantees accelerated heating of the air and “acceleration” of its movement through the section.

The convection window has a specially designed shape of baffles, which results in three simultaneous advantages: high speed of air discharge, optimal air direction to the center of the room and its effective distribution.

The main thing is the balance

The appliance is designed in such a way as to balance the convection and radiant heating shares.

The convective flow creates a warm air curtain in front of the windows, cutting off the cold air streams from the street and mixing the cold and warm layers of air in the room. Radiant heat is perceived by humans as heat from the sun.

This innovative design features two models in the ROYAL THERMO range: BiLiner Inox – a radiator with a stainless steel manifold for ultra-aggressive coolant systems and BiLiner – a radiator with an alloy steel manifold for aggressive coolant systems.

Design = style + safety

The design is developed taking into account three factors: technical to maximize heat emission , aesthetic because the radiator is always visible and functional.

ROYAL THERMO radiators are designed in accordance with the latest trends in industrial design and are a joy to the eye, so there is no need to cover them with curtains or a decorative screen.

ROYAL THERMO radiators have no sharp corners and edges, all edges are rounded so that a person will not be injured if he or she accidentally touches the radiator.

ROYAL THERMO radiators are painted in two stages in the color RAL9016. Of the two standard white colors used to paint radiators, this one has a cooler, whiter shade.

it is remarkable that original brand components of ROYAL THERMO are painted the same color in order to avoid discord.

At the end section there is an embossed metal ROYAL THERMO emblem. This element not only plays the role of a company logo, but is a protection against fakes of a well-known brand: A real radiator ROYAL THERMO of Liner series has such a mark.

Packaging = information + protection

The radiator is packaged in a five-layer cardboard box, inside which it is securely fixed with foam side panels. This vandal-proof packaging protects the radiator from damage during transportation.

The box contains full information about the radiator in American, English and Italian: the type of radiator eg, the label “Stainless steel manifold”, which makes it easy to distinguish the radiator with a stainless steel “core” from an alternative model with embedded black steel elements , the number of sections in a particular radiator, the heating area, the total heat output, the weight of the device, etc. d.
