DESIGN FEATURES

Model features Philips’ proprietary, advanced, patented Ambilight Spectra 3 technology. Visually magnifies the screen and projects a soft glow from three sides onto the wall behind your TV. Automatically adjusts color and brightness of backlighting according to the screen image to create an immersive effect. Adaptive Wall Color Tuning function is used to perfectly match the color of the backlight to the screen image.

Another Philips technology, LED Pro, is also used to improve picture quality while saving, according to the manufacturer, up to 50 percent in electricity. A lattice structure of more than 1,000 LEDs illuminates the display, enhancing the light in bright areas and reducing the glow in dark areas to a total blackout, thereby reducing power consumption and increasing the black depth on the screen when necessary.

TV comes with a table stand that can also be used for wall mounting. No need to buy additional wall brackets. The design of the stand ensures smooth positioning of the TV set on the wall. Align your TV with just a flick of the wrist.

Built-in optical sensor automatically adjusts pictures and Ambilight operation based on lighting conditions in the room.

Of image quality enhancing technologies we should mention the Perfect Pixel HD Engine, which is used to improve detail, rich colors and smooth motion.

PICTURE QUALITY

Philips 32PFL9705H/12 shows great color margin. The colors on the screen fade a little from an angle of about 55-60 degrees from a perpendicular direction to the screen.

When playing a 1080p signal from the component input, the flesh colors are a little bit too orange in some places by default, but you can use the detailed adjustments available in the device to correct this problem.

For convenience, there are also preset picture modes: “User”, “Bright”, “Natural”, “Cinema”, “Game”, “Energy”, “Standard”, “Photo”.

Slightly noticeable comb on moving oblique lines when playing standard definition signal.

On the whole the device shows great reserve of brightness, rather good quality of black shades.

Black is deep, white is rich, white objects on a white background are displayed with a medium degree of detail.

Resolution with this input was about 670-700 TV lines.

When inputting a 1080p signal to the HDMI input the resolution was also 670-700 TV lines, which, generally speaking, could be a bit more.

When displaying a standard definition signal, the motion is displayed a bit choppy for some reason, Natural Motion Technology could not correct this defect, but this is most likely a feature of the tested instance , a bit of the comb on the moving oblique lines is noticeable.

The color palette has a nice naturalness. Can be adjusted if you like

3 step temperature control as well as detailed color settings.

Note the big enough margin of image brightness, good detail of dark scenes.

Black and white colors are saturated, and the detail of bright scenes is average.

AUDIO QUALITY

The Philips 32PFL9705H/12 speaker system demonstrates a very big reserve of the volume, a little bit distortion is noticeable closer to the maximum, but we hardly need to increase the volume up to this level.

SERVICE FEATURES

Oval boat-shaped remote control with few buttons, compensated by a very large number of functions and settings directly in the menu system.

The TV can be connected to the local network via a LAN connection or via Wi-Fi. If the TV is connected to a home network, it can also be connected to the Net TV service, which offers Internet services and access to Web sites specifically designed for the TV. Also with a high speed internet connection, you can upgrade your TV software via the internet. Note that you can also update the software via a USB stick.
