Panasonic is introducing a new addition to its high-end LUMIX G family, the mirrorless DMC-GX8, which combines a wide range of features with a rugged, waterproof and dustproof body.
This model is the first of the LUMIX G digital cameras to feature Dual I image stabilization.S.*1, which can easily handle image blur caused by hand shake. The camera and lens stabilization systems work simultaneously, which allows you to effectively suppress the “shake” effect at any lens focal length. You can easily capture clear images when shooting handheld, even in low light conditions.
The new 20.3 megapixel DMC-GX8 Digital Live MOS sensor offers extreme light sensitivity, a wide dynamic range and low response time the quad-core Venus Engine image processor ensures maximum speed of signal processing, and the newly developed noise reduction system provides ISO 25,600.
Engineers paid special attention to image quality through in-depth understanding of noise patterns, tonal gradients, resolution, and color reproduction. The DMC-GX8 offers the user 8 fps AFS 6 fps AFC continuous shooting mode among other things – no more missing a unique shot.
The main innovation that distinguishes the new product from its predecessors, was the support for 4K video 3840×2160 pixels at 25p 50 Hz or 24p in MP4 format. Such high resolution allows to realize “4K Photo” function. Now you can capture still images at 30fps at a resolution equivalent to 8MP. Three 4K Photo function modes: 4K Burst Shooting, 4K Burst S/S Start/Stop and 4K Pre-Burst.
The camera DMC-GX8 has a rotating Live View viewfinder with the biggest magnification in the history of digital cameras LUMIX G – approx. 1.54× 0.77× in 35 mm camera equivalent and 2,360,000-dot resolution with 100% field of view. In addition, both the viewfinder and the camera’s screen are made with OLED technology, resulting in minimal response time 0.01 s and the highest contrast ratio 10,000:1 . 1 The 3′′ screen has a resolution of 1,040,000 dots and is equipped with a tilt mechanism for easy taking pictures.
The contrast AF system supports DFD Depth From Defocus technology and provides optimum speed and accuracy of the AF system – the data exchange between the camera and the lens is at 240 fps, so that the focusing speed is approximately 0.07 s*. A host of advanced features, including Face/eye Detection, Precision AF, Single AF, and enhanced Low Light AF, help you get great results in a variety of shooting conditions.
Not to mention the camera body, made of magnesium alloy, which is not only reliably protected, but also made in the modern style trends in technology – it is compact and elegant. To make it more convenient and intuitive to use, the manufacturer has provided a variety of useful control tools with the ability to assign the functions you want.
With built-in Wi-Fi you can easily connect your camera to a smartphone or tablet, which opens up even more shooting possibilities, as well as quicker publication of your photos.
