Panasonic Lumix DMC- GX7 mirrorless camera review

Lumix GX7, exploiting the timeless stylistics of analogue cameras, is much more suitable for the role of the senior model of the series, though the format of the compact “system” camera says otherwise. The body of the device is made of magnesium alloy, which gives it not only reliability but also solidity. However, at its rather small dimensions the camera feels too heavy. Quality of workmanship, selection of materials and unconventional design decisions rather than functions and characteristics define quite a high price.

The original design is the built-in electronic viewfinder, which rotates upward 90 degrees. In practice, though, it turns out to be more convenient to use the touch screen with a tilt mechanism. It’s big and clear, and in bright sunlight there are no problems with its readability.

This is the first “system” camera by Panasonic, which uses stabilization by shifting sensor. It works, the manufacturer claims, with any lens and is more effective for shooting video thanks to its larger amplitude of oscillation. With optics with built-in vibration reduction, the user has the right to choose which mechanism he prefers.

Of course, besides the spectacular design the device offers quite a sufficient set of tools. From predecessors and colleagues in the lineup GX7 got the ability to set a short shutter speed of 1/8000 sec, which allows, among other things, to use a large aperture when shooting in bright sunlight. The camera has a new function of highlighting contrasting borders in the image – focus-picking. It will prove to be a great aid for manual focus pointing. In addition the GX7 can offer a tonal curve tool for JPEG applications.

What makes this model different from G6 is the lower shooting resolution, not so functional video recording mode and slower continuous shooting speed.

Hi, I would like to know if the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX7 is a good option for a mirrorless camera. Could you please provide an in-depth review of its features, image quality, and overall performance? Additionally, I’d like to know how it compares to other popular mirrorless cameras in its price range. Thank you!
