Panasonic acquires Video Insight

Osaka, Japan ā€“ Panasonic Corporation signed an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares in Video Insight, a leading developer of video surveillance software based in Houston, Texas. The move should strengthen the positions of both companies on the North American educational market.

Panasonic Corporation plans to increase its annual turnover to 10 trillion yen by 2018. One of the directions, which will play an important role in achieving this global objective, will be B2B solutions, including.ch. security and surveillance systems.

Founded in 2002, Video Insight develops video management systems for the enterprise segment. Its products are used to secure more than 25,000 companies and organizations in the financial and transportation sectors, government agencies, retail chains, and 6,500 schools and campuses.

Video Insight software products act as an open platform that can be installed on almost any equipment a customer has. Today it supports over 2,500 camera models from 100 different brands and can be integrated with the most common access control systems. As customer requirements for video surveillance systems become more complex and diverse, the role of ā€œall-in-oneā€ software, which can easily integrate multiple devices, will only grow.

Acquisition of Video Insight will expand Panasonic portfolio and open new directions for cooperation with educational institutions. Under the agreement, Video Insight will be managed by its founders, Jay Robert Shaw and James Whitcomb. The company will continue to develop its open platform.
