Overview of Pioneer GS-WAVE and XY Series Speakers

Pioneer expands its DJ-equipment segment by entering the professional audio market with its flagship club system. The sound engineers at TAD and Pioneer have been making high quality sound systems for decades, so the arrival of Pioneer DJs with unparalleled experience in the professional DJing market in the field of club sound systems was a natural progression.

To create the long-awaited club sound system, Pioneer joined forces with the legendary Gary Stewart and Gary Stewart Audio GSA , whose sound systems have shaken up clubbers at the world’s most iconic venues, such as Singapore’s Zouk and Club Vertigo in Costa Rica. Joining them is Powersoft, a manufacturer of high-power amplifiers that can make the most of the potential of any audio system.

Martha Robowski, manager of Gary Stewart Audio, explains, “We always wanted to work with a manufacturer who shared our vision of truly quality sound reproduction. We believe the technology alliance between Pioneer and Gary Stewart Audio will result in a best-in-class nightclub sound system.

Alex Barrand, the Pioneer sound engineer behind the 2008 sound system upgrade at the legendary Ministry of Sound and who led the loudspeaker division, says: “We didn’t just decide to enter a new market, we wanted to lead it. So we put together a veritable ‘dream team’: the expertise of Pioneer’s Professional Sound R&D department combined with GSA and Powersoft.”.

Pioneer’s flagship speaker system consists of two series of passive speakers: the GS-WAVE and XY, a combination that is versatile enough to suit a variety of installation methods. The GS-WAVE series is designed for the dancefloor, with a high dispersion and a high sound pressure level across the whole frequency range.

The XY Series is more compact in size, but without sacrificing sound quality. Developed for use as monitors on stage or speakers in smaller rooms, the XY Series offers a wide range of installation options. The entire system is supported by Powersoft K-Series digital signal processing amplifiers, which come pre-set for improved speaker performance.
