The Black Sea coast comes to mind, friends and fish hanging on lines: capelin, red mullet, sprat, sprat, etc. The kids would pluck it right off the ropes and eat it right away. Delicious!!!
You canāt hang fish on ropes in the apartment, but you can drip it smartly in the Oursson dehydrator. Itās not hard to cook this dish.
Of course I could not find the Black Sea ākilkaā in New York in December, but I can find frozen capelin in any fish store.
I think every hostess has her own recipe for salting fish. I did so: defrosted the fish, put it in a bowl and salted each layer firmly, carefully mixed everything. I put the lid on the bowl and put it in the fridge. Itās been salting the washing in there for three days
I put baking paper on the bottom of the dehydrator tray and piled the capelin carefully, fish by fish. I put the temperature at 35 ā°C for 24 hours. Here we go!
The only thing I want to warn housewives about is to choose a place so that the smell does not become an obstacle to a delicious product. I canāt say that it smelled strongly of fish, but there was a characteristic aroma. So place the dehydrator near a half-open window or near a draft hood.
After 24 hours the fish was cooked to my taste. But you can still dry it to a condition that you like. I recommend replacing the paper and putting the fish āon the other sideā.
So, when thereās a soccer game on TV? Weāre ready for the match!
Oursson recipe book has a lot of tasty fish dishes: dried humpback salmon, dried sudak, ram, dried bream. The names alone are enough to make my mouth water. And all natural, āno chemicalsā not counting salt . And if you catch the fish with your own hands!
Well, those who like āsaltyā will certainly appreciate the dehydratorās capabilities: no need to look for a place to hang their fish to dry, no need to worry about flies, dust and other troubles. Itās easy, convenient and pretty quick.
Is the Oursson Dehydrator suitable for dehydrating other types of food besides fish?
