This isn’t a sci-fi story – it’s LG’s revolutionary new HomeChat system. It allows you to control the technology even when you are away from home: to turn appliances on and off, to set the settings, to monitor the process. And all this via your smartphone or tablet, gadgets that are always at your fingertips and the LINE messenger. Combining various SMART devices into one system makes it easier to use familiar appliances, making housework simple and convenient. One simple SMS command automatically changes the work of all the devices of the smart home.

Equipped with Wi-Fi, a camera and barcode scanner, LG’s smart fridge is so smart it can remind you what you need for dinner – what’s left and what you can buy at the store. It can even make its own grocery list and follow it to place an order in the online store. Several cutting-edge technologies – Smart View, Smart Power Saving, and Smart Manager – are contributing to this.

Smart View uses the first camera built inside a refrigerator on the market, allowing owners to see what’s inside on their smartphone or tablet. It captures an image of the interior shelves after each time the refrigerator door is opened. Thanks to HomeChat, users can quickly see exactly what they need to buy at the supermarket, thereby saving time and eliminating unnecessary purchases.

Smart Manager transforms your refrigerator into a full-fledged food management system, thanks to the handy Recipe Search feature. It provides the user with a variety of delicious food options according to the products inside the fridge. Another new feature, Photo Album, helps send pictures taken with a smartphone to the refrigerator screen. It lets you share your favorite shots with family members in the kitchen.

HomeChat helps if the user forgot to switch appliances to power-saving mode when they were away on vacation. On the way to the airport, simply send a “Vacation” message in massager and LG’s fridge will automatically switch to the smart power-saving mode. Smart Power Saving and Energy Monitoring systems help the smart fridge to be as energy efficient as possible, significantly reducing energy consumption when the fridge is not in use. By the way, the same message activates the LG HOM-BOT robotic vacuum cleaner Home Guard function, which allows him to monitor what is happening in the apartment: take photos of the current environment and send them directly to your smartphone or tablet. That’s the kind of hi-tech home guard that doesn’t need to be paid a salary.

DISCUSS A RECIPE … WITH THE OVEN

With HomeChat and the Recipe Search function, LG’s smart oven owner can discuss recommended recipes for selected dishes with it. When you select Homecoming mode, the oven asks: “What would you like to cook today??” – and opens the Find Recipes window. The oven will set the required temperature and cooking time itself after selecting from the choices offered. What’s more, you can check the status of the cooking process through the Oven Monitoring feature, get notifications on your smartphones inviting you to try new dishes when new recipes appear, and create your own recipes and store them in the oven’s memory.

WHO ELSE IS SMART TO NETWORK WITH?

LG smart washing machine has several smart technologies, which greatly simplify the washing process. Guided Laundry can recommend and automatically apply the best settings for any type of laundry. So, if you have orange or cherry juice stains, you just need to type in HomeChat Remove juice stains, then the wise helper will give advice, “Hello. Pre-soak, gentle washing at 60 degrees. You can start?”. One-touch will start the wash mode for that type of soiling.

Thanks to the Download Cycle feature, users can easily download new wash cycles. They can even get the washing done by the time they get home from work: just dial “Start Washing” when they leave the office. Plus, they can check the machine’s operating stage by typing in “What are you doing now??”

The ability to communicate with your refrigerator, washing machine, oven, robot vacuum cleaner at a distance via your tablet or smartphone is a trend for 2014 and the near future. LG came up with a very interesting SMART smart home concept and has become a trendsetter in smart technology.
