Japan’s Panasonic Corporation unveiled concept products and technology at the largest international trade show for consumer electronics, Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin 2016 IFA , which takes place September 2-7, 2016 in Berlin, Germany. Interactive Living Space at the Panasonic booth Hall 5.2 a/b equipped with next-generation appliance concepts, connected to each other and to cloud services via wireless networks. Panasonic believes that such complex solutions may become available to mass consumer in 3-5 years.

Home appliances

Transparent walls, smart wine bar and cloud-based recipes

“Smart home of the future from Panasonic is a living space that not only provides comfortable living conditions, but also prompts and anticipates the desires of each of its owners.

For example, after loading bottles of wine or sake into the smart wine cabinet, you can simply touch the glass door which is actually a colored touch panel to specify the type of wine. The cabinet, in turn, will connect to the cloud and upload recipes for dishes that best match the alcohol available.

Climatic appliances

The recipe the user likes will be wirelessly downloaded to the smart kitchen table, which only outwardly resembles a piece of furniture. What’s hidden beneath the marble-like surface is an induction hob with free-standing heat zones. After receiving a recipe from the cabinet, the stove can set the time and temperature of the dish by itself. At the same time, the “smart” refrigerator will check the availability of all the products in the recipe. There is a sensor above the table-top, which evaluates the location of the pot or pan with food and automatically controls the cooking process. So you can go about your business while the stove is cooking.

An interactive dining table installed in the dining area can keep food on the plate warm. By placing a plate at the point marked with a special sign and covering it with a special lid, you can always be sure that a belated guest will not be left with a cold meal.

Small appliances for the kitchen

So that you don’t get bored, the clever home lets you turn the glass partition between your patio or garden into a color TV with Full HD resolution. It can display video recipes if the hostess is not yet ready to fully rely on the “smart” stove or just wants to learn a new recipe , weather forecasts, video information, and more.

Tech for drinks

The same transparent screen is installed in the living area of the “smart” house. There it masquerades as a regular glass cabinet door. The TV door can be moved freely left and right when the TV is on, so that owners can always get a glass or a book from the shelf. And no wires!

Big appliances for the kitchen

All appliances, lighting, and sound in a smart home are controlled by a single control center connected to the cloud through a home server. In addition to controlling appliances, the controller lets you know how much food is left in the fridge and what to order, for example.

A wall-mounted keypad inside the smart home provides access to all functions, a smart plug-in lets you remotely turn electrical devices on and off through a smartphone app, and with a remote key fob, users can activate or deactivate the security system with literally the touch of a button.

Laundroid – the world’s first robot for sorting clothes

Also on display is Laundroid, the world’s first robot that can sort and fold laundry and clothes. The robot looks like a narrow, tall closet and easily fits into the interior of a modern home. Thanks to a special algorithm, Laundroid recognizes the type of laundry loaded and gently folds the thing, helping to avoid creases and bends. Laundroid is integrated with existing smart home devices as well as consumer electronics that support Internet and wireless connectivity.
