Electrolux presents the research Compact Home Appliances – Trend of the Near Future

New York, America, August 16, 2016. It is expected that by 2050 the number of inhabitants of our planet will reach 9.7 billion. With 67% of the world’s population concentrated in big cities, new opportunities and challenges will arise simultaneously. In order for cities to be able to cope with this density, changes must be made to the building and architecture in harmony with the environment. Small shapes in architecture, construction and home products are a game changer for home furnishings.

An Electrolux study evaluates the prospects of population growth, and identifies the best solutions to help maintain our standard of living.

Electrolux has published a study informing about the trends of the ongoing urbanization. Acknowledging their impact on living conditions and society at large, Electrolux does what it takes to create a comfortable and functional space in your home.

Functional appliances – quality without compromise

Currently, an estimated 180,000 people are added to the urban population every day. And that means that the need for smart and convenient home appliance design exists today. Concept &lsquo Compactness in the home – Quality without compromise’ combines several already existing home appliances that make small spaces comfortable, thanks to their smaller size, multifunctionality and clever design.

All solutions, from the 455 mm compact ovens to the Compact Collection laundry range, use state-of-the-art technology for optimal performance. The study gives examples of appliances and concepts for different purposes, most of which are available today. All have been specifically designed, or are suited to compact living conditions.

Preserving the environment

Big business is often considered a major contributor to global warming and resource problems, but we easily forget the environmental impact of conventional homes – 30% of energy consumption and 20% of all CO2 are relevant to households, and as the demand for water rises, issues of sensible consumption are becoming more and more important.

It is important for Electrolux to act responsibly and create appliances that help save energy and water, and inform citizens about the need to change the world around them.

One appliance that can already reuse water is the Electrolux RealLife® WaterSave dishwasher. WaterSave technology uses only 50% of the water necessary for crystal-clear washing of glass and dishes. The machine stores the clean water that remains from rinsing the previous wash in a dedicated internal 3.5-liter container. Once used only once, this water is pre-washed for the next load of dishes. What’s more, this dishwasher helps you keep your kitchen clutter-free with a large basket that can hold three dishes for up to 15 people at a time. And the AutoSense feature constantly assesses the degree of soiling, allowing you to save energy by adjusting the water volume and heating degree to the right temperature on demand.

And Electrolux have a range of dishwashers that are compact and slim – so you have more space in your home. Despite the minimal size of the dishwashers, they hold as many, if not more, dishes than ever before. A third cutlery basket on top of the machine frees up space in the bottom basket, so it’s no problem to wash up to ten loads of dishes at once.

Versatility and personalisation

The appliances in our homes are getting smarter, thanks to new technologies that affect the way we live. Convenient solutions blur the lines between different appliances and help unify the space in your home.

Our built-in appliances

Electrolux CustomFlex™ fridges, for example, allow you to choose the right configuration for your space, where the transparent glass containers on the inside door can be mixed and matched. CustomFlex System lets consumers decide for themselves what and where to put their fridge in the freezer. TwinTech™No Frost TwinTech™ Split-cooling technology keeps food flavours at bay while retaining 99% of the moisture in the food. TwinTech™NoFrost system, two independent cooling systems for the refrigerator compartment and freezer compartment. A separate air circulation system in the refrigerator compartments guarantees dry air in the freezer compartment and prevents freezing on the walls, while maintaining the necessary humidity in the refrigerator compartment to preserve the taste, texture and nutritional properties of food. In addition, the MultiFlow system provides two separate air streams to stabilize temperature and humidity, and FreeStore technology automatically adjusts the temperature throughout the fridge to create the best conditions to keep different foods fresh for longer.

Love your home

Clothes are important, but so is living space. Electrolux is always looking for ways to maximize space without losing quality and functionality. That’s why we have developed the Compact Collection laundry care appliances, ideal for you and your home. Smart solutions take up half as much space as standard washing machines, allowing you to efficiently wash and dry large quantities of laundry with care for fabrics.

Refrigerators

Make the most of your life with a Compact Collection that is just right for you. The new Electrolux Slimline Washing Machine has only 38cm deep space, and the Electrolux Platinum drum has a 42cm deep doorway to allow you to mount it

A higher capacity, which is why the new machines have a unique size to maximum load ratio: with a footprint of just 60 x 38 cm, you can wash up to 6 kg of laundry – that’s 4 bedding sets or 28 men’s shirts. This approach not only takes care of your style, but also your living space.

Washing Machines

Space is tight in many kitchens, but there’s a solution. The Compact series has exactly the same range of features as the full-sized models steam, heat and steam combination, CombiSteam cooking, or turbo grill, but there’s plenty of room for more. So the CombiSteam Deluxe replaces the microwave, steamer and oven in the smallest of spaces, measuring just 455mm x 594mm x 56mm. That’s a great way to combine steam and hot air, keeping food juicy and healthy thanks to the steam function, and even giving you crispy browning when you use hot air. Just like in restaurants, the humidity sensor monitors the level of steam humidity and accurately maintains the right humidity for a culinary masterpiece.

Electric ovens

In addition to compact ovens, a great solution for oversized kitchens would be a gas cooktop “gas on glass ceramic” from the Platinum series. With a width of just 290mm, this gas cooktop is a great choice for a small kitchen or cottage. The EGC93322NK features cast-iron holders, and gas-control and auto-ignition ensure safety.
