Leica has released major firmware updates for five cameras

Leica Camera AG has released a series of major firmware updates that affect Leica M10, Leica Q, Leica CL, Leica TL2 and Leica T TL camera models. Along with further improvements to existing features, the updates also bring a significant number of new changes that improve camera performance.

Leica

Upgrade to firmware version 2.4.5.0 for Leica M10

1. Deletion menu optimization: GUI for deletion of images has been redesigned.

2. Longer exposure times: Exposure times of up to four minutes are now possible at base ISO.

3. New Continuous Shooting Mode with lower frame rate: an additional three frames per second Continuous Shooting Mode is now available.

4. “Download profile” is now available in the “Favorites” menu.

5. Recording the aperture value in the EXIF data: the camera compares the brightness measured through the lens with the measured brightness of the environment to estimate the aperture used. This value is then written into the EXIF data. Interpreting the subject or scene may result in an incorrect aperture value in some cases, such as when photographing high-contrast subjects or scenes and black or white objects.

6. Red LED off: The red LED on the back of the camera can now be turned off in the controls menu.

7. Auto ISO setting: Auto-ISO for basic ISO is now set to the default ISO 200 to optimize the dynamic range.

Compact Cameras

Firmware update to version 3.0 for Leica Q

1. Favorites Menu: Users can now enter and save up to 15 settings for quick access in the Favorites Menu.

2. Power-saving mode: if necessary, the camera can be set to go into standby mode after 10 seconds.

3. Expanded functions for Fn button: even more options to program the multifunctional button can be chosen now.

4. User profiles: profiles can now be imported and exported to the memory card.

5. OIS – “Auto” option: this setting allows you to automatically activate optical image stabilization at a shutter speed of 1/60 s or slower.

6. EVF LCD settings: This menu item can now be assigned to the Fn button.

7. Electronic shutter settings: The electronic shutter can now be set to always be active.

8. DNG files: in-camera processing speed for DNG files increased.

9. Focus Field: The last AF field used is remembered when the camera is turned off and can be used again when the camera is turned on again

10. Self-timer: The setting is memorized and can be used again the next time the camera is turned on

11. Preview Off Option: Exposure preview can now be turned off in manual mode particularly useful when shooting in studio with flash, underexposed settings, or in dark conditions .

12. Image preview: Automatic image preview stays active as long as the shutter button is pressed.

Compact Cameras

Firmware upgrade to version 2.0 for Leica CL

1. Programming of dial functions: the programming of two dials can now be changed from one to the other.

2. Button lock: Pressing and holding down the left adjuster activates the button lock this does not lock the on/off switch, shutter-release button or the left adjuster dial .

3. Power save mode: If necessary, the camera can be set to go into standby mode after 10 seconds.

4. Touch AF screen: It is now also possible to switch AF metering points using the joystick in touch AF mode when using the electronic viewfinder.

Compact Cameras

Upgrade to firmware version 1.4 for Leica TL2

1. Selectable LCD viewfinder settings: you can now choose when and where content is displayed until now, display was simultaneous .

2. Setup functions for the left menu: the functions of the items on the left menu can now be customized by assigning up to six of the thirteen functions.

3. Expanded Functions for Fn Button: Six different functions can now be assigned to the Fn button.

4. Electronic shutter settings: Electronic shutter can be deactivated, permanently activated or used in combination with mechanical shutter.

5. Focus Peaking in AF Mode: Manual focus adjustments can now be applied in AF mode using the MF ring. In the meantime, Focus Peaking is available from FW 1.4.

6. Focus Peaking with M- R-Lenses: Focus Peaking is now also available when using M-R-Lenses with M-Adapter L.

7. Exposure Correction During Video Recording: The set of settings on the left side can now be used to adjust the exposure during video recording.

8. Zoom when viewing images in EVF: A set of settings on the right side allow users to zoom in when viewing images in EVF.

Photo equipment

Firmware update to version 1.8/2.3 for Leica T TL

1. Simplified connection between camera and smartphone via app

2. Chromatic aberration reduction for all TL lenses

3. Support and automatic upgrade for Elmarit-TL18 mmf/2 lenses.8 ASPH.
