Canon Europe has announced the current firmware update for the EOS R6 version v1.4 and the EOS-1D X Mark III version v1.5 , as well as about the upcoming EOS R5 camera update version v1.4 . New responsive firmware helps turn every camera into a powerful tool for professional video shooting.

Cinematic quality
New firmware for the EOS R6 and EOS-1D X Mark III makes widely requested Canon Log 3 C-Log 3 profile, already present in the EOS R5. Canon’s renowned Log 3 profile extends dynamic range and offers more options for color space adjustment, so videographers can get bright, high-quality video comparable to the images of Hollywood movie cameras. This logarithmic gamma curve also allows you to better integrate the listed models into your film production workflows and achieve color matching with videos shot with Cinema EOS series cameras.
Simplified video workflow
In addition to C-Log 3, the updated firmware also expands dual-card recording capabilities in all three cameras. Users can now record the same video file — with the same resolution, frame rate and codec — on both memory cards at the same time. This helps ensure that no material is lost if one of the cards is damaged2. Updated firmware also adds support for the EOS-1D X Mark III and EOS R5 on the new industry-standard CFexpress VPG400 cards, with a guaranteed minimum write speed of 400 Mbps to improve shooting reliability. An indispensable feature for shooting in 8K or recording in RAW format.
Cinema compatibility
Upcoming firmware update for EOS R5 will ensure compatibility with CN-E18-80mm T4 lenses.4 L IS KAS S and CN-E70-200mm T4.4 L IS KAS S Cine-Servo, making it a versatile model for new levels of movie-making. Thanks to the updated firmware operators can control an exposition, focusing and a zoom by means of elements on the case, and also to begin recording by pressing the button on film lenses Canon with the servo drive Cine-Servo . The update supports Canon’s EOS Utility and Camera Connect software, making it easy to integrate the EOS R5 into any workflow.
New firmware for the EOS R5 lets you shoot full-frame 8K and framed 5K ProRes RAW video when connected to an Atomos Ninja V+ recorder, as well as framed 5K ProRes RAW video with an Atomos Ninja V recorder. Operators get incomparable image quality from an affordable and compact camera.
The Atomos Ninja V+ paired with the EOS R5 can record 8K movies at 30fps, giving cinematographers and videographers more to do. So, these professional formats allow you to change white balance and ISO in post-production processing.
