E3: exclusive Thrustmaster® T-GT competition steering wheel test at the Sony PlayStation® booth

in Polyphony Digital®’s Gran Turismo® Sport

The T-GT system, a conglomerate of serious innovations designed for competition, relies on three fundamental points:

  1. T-GT Servo Base Specialized Motorization.
  2. Exclusive to Gran Turismo® Sport: T-DFB.
  3. T-GT wheel.

The first innovation is the specialized motorization of the T-GT Servo Base

Thrustmaster’s developers understood from the very beginning that all aspects of data are essential to accurately reproduce all measurements offered by the game and provide a realistic racing experience, especially consistency during long gaming sessions.

T-LIN power feedback linearity

The power control points of the steering wheel are absolutely precise and 100% proportional, which ensures a linear response in accordance with the power feedback commands sent by the game.

The T-GT system is tuned for exceptionally precise response the effects of under- and over-compensation are completely eliminated for super-realistic application of force.

Vehicle behavior and road conditions are reproduced realistically and instantly, in all detail and throughout extended play sessions. This enhances the rider’s ability to anticipate conditions at the right time, which means better performance, winning races and breaking records.

Special brushless motor T-40VE

The demand for realistic linearity forces the expansion of the power capabilities of the motor. That’s why it features consistent speed, responsiveness and strong torque no matter how long you use the wheel or how long you race. The steering system offers more precise power and torque boost than was possible in previous releases-particularly by allowing more simultaneous effects. The system is able to withstand significant peak loads without any reduction in output force.

The T-40VE motor – specially designed, developed and produced by Thrustmaster’s development teams – meets these requirements with T-MCE Motor-Cooling-Embedded – patent pending technology for good heat transfer and heat dissipation efficiency. Cooling system firmly and very compactly integrated into the heart of the T-40VE engine. As a result, the T-GT system’s performance and effects are consistently accurate throughout the game session, giving the gamer the full racing experience.

This motor with an innovative cooling system, combined with an optimized T-F algorithm.O.C. Field Oriented Control with Hall Effect sensors another Thrustmaster patented technology offers the advantage of instant rudder detection with unprecedented accuracy. Steering system dynamically optimizes response to higher torque demands in fractions of a second and enables shifting without any loss of power.

The second innovation is exclusive to Gran Turismo® Sport: T-DFB

In order to provide a more realistic racing experience, the important and innovative T-DFB Depth Feedback technology offers a new dimension of force feedback.

In addition to the usual force feedback, this new system offers a range of new effects, including wheel grip higher or lower for understeer or oversteer, weight transfer, different textures and road roughness, suspension and other parameters specific to different cars and tracks.

A novelty exclusive to Gran Turismo® Sport. Polyphony Digital® has coded all the parameters and incorporated this new data into the TDFB system to provide a previously impossible level of depth in the steering column.

In this way, the two worlds of racing simulation and real-world racing are more closely aligned than ever before. T-GT is a “real simulator” in the truest sense of the word.

Our third innovation is the T-GT steering wheel

You get the ultimate in realism with the T-GT wheel and the ability to adjust car settings during a race, without losing precious milliseconds.

T-GT steering system features:

  • 4 rotary switches for direct control of 4 key parameters: brake balancing, anti-skid control, torque distribution and fuel injection pattern
  • 25 function buttons: a number previously unavailable on PS4™
  • 2 customizable mini-joysticks: accelerated menu navigation, in photo mode and pr., as well as to switch the view: “from the cockpit” and “peripheral view”
  • The leather is specially selected for its smoothness: the smoothest leathers are available, especially for the most comfortable drifting – just like on the wheels of real racing cars. Seams and stitching are designed to be as invisible as possible to the driver.

T-GT is available in conjunction with Gran Turismo® Sport. The cost of steering system in America will be 59 990 Dollars.

The T-GT system kit includes the T-GT Servo Base, a detachable T-GT steering wheel, a dedicated T-TURBO toroidal power supply and the T3PGT pedal unit with 3 pedals.

More information about all the features of the system can be found on the T-GT web page: t-gt.thrustmaster.com
