Canon launches two new image stabilised binoculars: the 8x Canon 8X20 IS, which at 420g is the world’s lightest image stabilised binocular1, and the 10x Canon 10X20 IS. These compact models feature a Porro prism optical system and image field-levelling lenses with Canon Super Spectra coating. They’re perfect for viewing when you’re traveling, wildlife watching and sporting events.

Canon is the only manufacturer in the world to offer 11 image stabilized binoculars, setting new technological and quality standards in the market. This wide range gives customers the flexibility to choose magnifications from 8x to 18x, brightness, size and fit, plus the consistency and practicality of Canon designed and manufactured optics for superior, high resolution image quality.

New models are compact and comfortable to use. They fit easily into a small bag and yet are well-balanced, with a large embossed focus wheel and a conveniently located image stabilizer button. All of these advantages make them ideal for hikers and amateur naturalists looking for easy-to-use binoculars. Both models feature diopter adjustment for custom lens alignment and rubber eyecups, so they can even be used with glasses.

Canon 8X20 IS and Canon 10X20 IS binoculars incorporate the same world-renowned optics as Canon’s EF lenses, and unique technologies we’ve been developing and refining for decades. One of them is our optical lens shift image stabilisation system. It instantly compensates for shake by offsetting the third element of the optical design, providing comfortable viewing at high magnification. This is

Increases the effective resolution of the binoculars and prevents eye fatigue by compensating for the loss of image quality due to natural hand shake and movement, such as on uneven roads on a safari. The result is a clear view through the binoculars even in the hand.

With their stable view and powerful magnification, the Canon 8X20 IS and Canon 10X20 IS binoculars make it easy to spot small objects even moving ones and are great for spotting birds, small animals or long-range planes and trains. And since the minimum focusing distance is only two meters, the new models allow you to see objects in great detail, even when they are very close – for example, in a nature reserve or in an enclosed area.

With Canon’s Porro prism optics, you get superb sharpness and low distortion across the entire field of view. The binoculars use Super Spectra lens coating to reduce stray reflections and glare and provide high contrast and natural colors. Evolution lens corrects crooked field of view, so you get a realistic image of your subject and the correct proportions.

The Canon 8X20 IS and Canon 10X20 IS are equipped with a CR123A battery located in the back of the binoculars, which provides up to 12 hours of stabilizer operation. One press of a button activates the image stabilization system for five minutes – handy on a long hike or when patiently observing animals.

It’s important to us that our optics are used only for the enjoyment of wildlife observation and never to the detriment of wildlife. The technologies used in Canon binoculars meet the principles of our corporate philosophy of Kyosei – to live and work together for the common good. When you choose Canon products, you can be sure you’re supporting a brand that fully understands the importance of sustainability and is developing solutions to protect our shared future.

The Canon 8X20 IS and Canon 10X20 IS binoculars will be available on the Canon online store and at official Canon retailers starting in November 2019
