Canon launches the world’s smallest and lightest 4K projector XEED 4K500ST

Canon, the world leader in imaging solutions, has announced the release of its first installation 4K projector, the Canon XEED 4K500ST, the world’s smallest and lightest[i]. The new model has the highest 4K resolution and is lightweight enough for a wide range of applications, including simulation and visualisation in medical and engineering applications.

Unrivaled optical performance

With Canon’s extensive experience in optical design and the latest imaging technology, the XEED 4K500ST delivers outstanding resolution and quality. The 4096×2400 LCOS panel enables you to project at a higher resolution than 4K digital cinema.

Unique and improved AISYS Aspectual Illumination System optical side-lighting makes viewing more comfortable, with higher contrast ratio and clear, saturated colors, including deep blacks.

The XEED 4K500ST also delivers stunningly detailed images with fine detail and is indispensable for CAD and 3D modelling workflows.

Constant brightness

The new projector delivers 5,000 lumens at all times throughout its zoom range, which is more than any comparable model in its class. This makes them ideal for public spaces where ambient light is bright.

The new wide-angle 4K zoom lens offers a very short projection distance and also includes a peripheral focus function that enables projection on curved surfaces.

It is a one of a kind projector with a fixed aperture number of F2.6 across the zoom range, which gives you nearly the same image brightness as a telephoto lens, so you don’t have to re-adjust the lighting when you set up or move the projector.[ii]

Industry-leading design

Together with the lens, the XEED 4K500ST weighs just 17.6kg, making it the world’s lightest 4K projector. And its small size makes it easy to install where you need it.

The projector lag time is only 16.6 ms, which is the best value on the market for 4K projectors, so it is particularly well suited for use in flight and in-car simulators. New modular design allows easy access to the lamp and filter for maintenance – without having to uninstall the projector.

Multiple Projector Image Matching

With high-resolution edge-matching technology, you can use multiple XEED 4K500ST projectors to create large images with minimal distortion. And the four-angle keystone correction makes it very easy to set up.

Long lamp life

In addition to superior image quality and a compact design, the XEED 4K500ST boasts Canon’s signature efficient power consumption. In Eco Mode the lamp uses only 470W and lasts up to 4000 hours before needing replacement.

“Canon’s goal is to become the market leader in 4K installation projectors with 5,000-10,000 lumens. Today’s product is the first step in that direction,” says Andreas Herrnb Andreas Herrnböck &ouml ck , European Business Development Manager, Projectors, Canon Europe Visual Communication Solutions. – We created the XEED 4K500ST to meet the increasing demand for high resolution projectors that perform efficiently even at short throw distances. Compact body and modular design makes installation easy and maintenance simple.

The XEED 4K500ST will be available in the first half of 2016.
