Why I switched from a centrifugal juicer to an auger juicer?

I love juices, besides, my kids love them, and I really want to feel like a caring mom and give them freshly squeezed juice, not store juice. I first had a centrifugal juicer that required slicing fruit. I cut carrots, peeled and cut apples and squeezed the juice. Did I do it often? No, unfortunately. Peeling and chopping apples is a pain in the ass. Strained and the question of the need to wash this “farm”, and the presence of a bunch of cake, which was, well… not quite dry. My mother’s thriftiness did not let me throw it away, and what to do with so much apple puree, I did not know. In general, this model has not caught on in the kitchen.

Small appliances for the kitchen

Screw juicer Juicepresso CJP-01, price 19 990 Dollars.

I bought a juicer with a neck for a whole apple! Really, it’s just an indispensable thing for one week in the fall, when from the dacha comes a bag of apples. You quickly turn it into gallons of juice. But when there are not enough vegetables, it is not very convenient to use such a machine.

First, I began to notice that my mother still continues to peel apples to use the apple puree, the amount of which was growing in our fridge exponentially! Secondly, to wash after a couple of apples and two carrots all this ginormous thing – thankless work. In general, again it did not work out! It stood idle for most of the year, and from the oranges we juiced through the press.

The screw juicer gave me the ability to squeeze grape and pomegranate juice – my previous devices could not give me this happiness. Besides, I can easily make citrus juice in it – instead of two devices I have one on my desk. It also works with April hard root vegetables: carrots and turnips. In general, we drink juices every day, mostly mixes – from apples, carrots, grapes and tangerines.

True, the citrus fruits have to be peeled from the skin, and the apples are cut – I’ve learned to do it with a special apple slicer. The cake is very dry, and there is no regret, when you send this dry waste in a bucket. But the juice always turns out with pulp, and a couple of times, when I experimented with pears and anthonovka, I got not juice, but baby food.

Sometimes my daughter complains that there is a lot of pulp in the juice, she prefers pureed drinks. So if the fruit is not very juicy, I pass the resulting drink through a sieve. And I think it’s much more convenient to make smoothies from bananas and milk with a blender. We made pomegranate juice and enjoyed it. Too bad, May is not the right season to make juices. We are waiting for a new harvest!

But what this juicer is not able to do – to wash itself. Of course, the manufacturers say about the possibility to rinse with water, but in this way you can just wash away the remains of the previous fruit before squeezing the next one, and you really need to wash it every day, and manually, using the brush included in the kit.

All in all, I’m satisfied, but I’m saving my centrifugal with a trendy “whole apple” format for the cherished September week.

Why did you switch from a centrifugal juicer to an auger juicer? What advantages does the auger juicer have over the centrifugal one in terms of juice quality and extraction? Are there any noticeable differences in terms of taste, texture, or nutrient content? How does the process of juicing with an auger juicer differ from using a centrifugal juicer?

I switched from a centrifugal juicer to an auger juicer because the auger juicer provides higher juice quality and extraction. The auger juicer operates at a slower speed, resulting in less heat generation and oxidation of the juice, preserving more nutrients and enzymes. In terms of taste and texture, the juice from an auger juicer is smoother and richer compared to the foamy texture from a centrifugal juicer. The process of juicing with an auger juicer involves crushing and pressing fruits and vegetables, extracting more juice and leaving behind drier pulp. Overall, the switch to an auger juicer has significantly improved the quality of the juice I consume.
