In assessing the work of the steam system, I tried not to compare it with other parties to the test: different weight class. This system is economy class, the others are premium.

MATERIALS AND DESIGN

All traditional: base and iron body made of plastic, iron soleplate made of stainless steel. Rubberized iron handle and dial. Note that the first few uses, the plastic emits an odor, which can be felt when using the device.

Stainless steel soleplate glides easily enough on fabrics during ironing. Not as many steam holes as some of the other models in the test. But it is enough to deliver steam evenly and intensively during ironing a real “steam cloud” is produced, which covers the entire soleplate.

Water container translucent. In principle, through its walls you can see how much water is there. You can fill it up by removing the container. This procedure is not complicated. It’s a little harder to put it in place: you need to hear a click. If it does not, the steam station may not “see” the water. I did not hear a click, I had to press the container a few times, so to speak, to move it, so that it stands up more tightly.

Power cord is placed in a braid, so no data on the number of wires and their cross section could not be read.

CONTROL

Simple enough. Main panel is located on the base. There is an on/off button in the center. After you insert the plug into the socket, the button starts flashing orange. Once pressed, it lights steadily and the left green button starts flashing – this is the steam intensity selection. At this time the power is set. Three options in total: low steam one bar on the scale is lit , medium steam two and high steam three . Once water reaches the desired temperature this button remains lit steadily light on .

If you need to change the steam setting during ironing, just press this button once or several times until the desired intensity is reached.

The right button – red – lights up when the water runs out. The color indication is supported by a sound indication, which is very convenient.

On the iron is a regulator for heating the soleplate and the steam control unit.

The circular regulator is the same as for all irons: modes are marked, and the regulator must be rotated to set the desired one.

It should be noted that the manufacturers have equipped this steam station with an ECO mode, which allows you to save up to 30% of electricity. Steam is kept to a minimum in this case.

PRIDING! The regulator is small and the signs and markings on it are microscopic. Difficult to see for the visually impaired.

There is a steam switch on the handle, it’s not really a button, but more of a lever. Under the handle there is a button, by pressing which the steam comes. But if you don’t want to squeeze it all the time, you just move the lever toward you. The button locks and steam is constantly released. The lever itself is not very pleasant to the touch, it is hard and rough.

I can refill the tank without taking it out of the system, through a special opening with a mechanical filter that makes sure no large debris gets in.

The iron is always horizontal on the ironing area during breaks in ironing. It is not even theoretically possible to put it upright. The iron is not fixed on the pad, it can be placed in different positions, which is convenient when working: you just put it the way you want and adjust the fabric or change the items for ironing.

ELEVING

The system is very quickly ready for use, literally in a minute. It is a definite plus, because in a hurry, you do not waste a second waiting.

The steam generator does not make a big noise during the operation, there is a constant sound of water “pumping” and the sound of steam coming out. But these sounds are in the comfort zone, do not interfere and do not distract.

The ironer is very small, it is smaller than standard devices and resembles those designed for travel. There is one very important plus associated with the size – the iron is lightweight. It doesn’t strain your hand at all.

Naturally, when ironing, I have resorted to the possibility of constant steam delivery: in this case you don’t have to press the button under the handle all the time. True, I had to turn off this mode when I put the iron on the stand, or see the iron enveloped in a cloud of steam while you take a new sheet for ironing.

I ironed mostly at maximum soleplate temperature with maximum steam output.

In terms of ironing results, I would not compare this model to the other steam systems in the test, but to conventional steam irons. Scarlett iron undoubtedly irons faster and better than they do. It succumbed to four layers of an over-dried cambric duvet cover. Towels have been ironed folded in half. True, it didn’t steam terry towels as well as other models. But they certainly ironed out and got softer.

The water in the container was enough for about 15 minutes of work. But in that time, I’ve ironed just about everything I was going to: a one-and-a-half bed set, a couple of T-shirts, and a dozen towels. Once again, the laundry was intentionally over-dried, but the system also handled tight creases on the edges of the fabric.

Vertical steaming is possible, and the iron is easy to hold. True, you should not expect fantastic results with this method of fabric processing. But this is about the method in general, not the features of this model.

There is one peculiarity at work: steam starts and stops its delivery not instantly, but in 15-20 seconds after switching on/off its delivery.

WASHINGTON

You can use tap water, but it is better to give preference to filtered water, with it the system will last longer. No self-cleaning systems to descale and no way to clean the boiler. As long as the system lasts, so long as it lasts. That’s why the quality of the water used is of paramount importance distilled water, of course, is ideal.

Really easy to care for: just rinse out the water compartment once in a while and wipe down the soleplate.

GENERAL IMPRESSIONS

When evaluating the performance of this steam system, I tried not to compare it with other participants in the test: different weight categories. It is an economy class system, and the others are the premium ones.

But most importantly: this system is functionally very good at what it does. And if a person can’t afford to spend a large sum to buy a steam generator, rather than buy a regular steam iron, it’s better to choose a Scarlett. The system irons faster and better. In addition, it is compact and can be recommended to students in a dorm, hostesses in the summer at the cottage, even on a trip, where you will definitely have to iron, for example, the child costumes for the performance. All in all, this model is one proof that even the most budget steam system is better at ironing than a steam iron.

What’s not to like

: The smell of plastic, but I think this is temporary. The lever on the handle is not very pleasant to the touch, the water container runs out quickly.

The most affordable and compact.
