Test of the PHILIPS HD 3037/03 multicooker

Small appliances for the kitchen

Advantages: convenient operation, light and sound system, a good choice of programs, the availability of the program with temperature settings, high-quality coating of the bowl, the ability to wash the bowl in the dishwasher, a 2-year warranty. High power allows you to cook faster than in other multicookers.

Small appliances for the kitchen

Disadvantages: not all recipes from the enclosed cookbook have been tested by the manufacturer and are suitable for this appliance, for example, many users complain about the escape of soup and milk in the programs designed for soup and porridge. Must adjust: use oven program with temperature settings. Disadvantage of the design – the inner lid is not removable: it can not be detached and fully washed, only wiped after each use.

WARNINGS:

Control, program and mode specifics.

Well made device with a quality thickened bowl and intuitive, fully russified control panel. Selecting programs and adjusting time and temperature take seconds, no need to look at instructions: everything is as simple as possible, even for inexperienced users.

If you do something wrong, for example if you want to set the time of cooking, but the selected program does not provide for this, the device sound and light indication signals that it is necessary simply press the “Start” button. The choice of programs is impressive, most of the necessary modes are provided. It is a pity that it is not possible to regulate the cooking time: for example, the “Pilaf” mode is for one hour, and the “Boil” mode – for no more than 30 minutes.

The manufacturer promises 22 temperature settings. Counting: 10 programs without temperature control – 10 modes, add another 7 degrees of temperature in the oven mode: a total of 17 modes. The Oven program is interesting and very convenient: you can adjust the temperature in it, so it can be used as a slow cooker, and for stewing, and for milk porridge – so it doesn’t run away.

Manufacturer’s comment:

In order to cook each dish properly, the temperature must vary during cooking, which is why the optimum temperature modes have been selected for each of the functions. In total, there are 22. For example, the Rice mode first heats up to 140°C, then it goes down to 130°C and at the end of the evaporation phase it goes up to 140°C again.

Once again, let’s pay attention to the bowl, it’s just great and very different from all the other bowls in the dough. Thick-walled, with a clear volume scale and flawlessly durable coating a model with this bowl took part in our previous independent testing, so that we can judge also by the much longer experience of using the bowl than the short test suggests .

I was very pleased with the steam valve: it has a clear indication of the “open/closed” position, which is very convenient. But the non-removable inner lid is an unfortunate design oversight.

Scores:

Control: minus 1 point for the lack of the Milk porridge program. Did not deduct a point for the lack of Express program, as the appliance is the most powerful in the dough and cooks very quickly. Total: 9 points.

Interface: 10 points for full russification, clear lettering, light and sound indication, necessary with a large selection of programs.

The choice of programs: minus 1 point for the lack of the program Milk porridge. Total: 9 points.

Price/performance ratio.

The lower price about 7000 seems already a little bit overpriced: the brand known for its quality, claimed 22 temperature modes. For less money you can buy a multicooker with similar functionality and quality of cooking, for the same or a little more money – a multicooker with the ability to cook under pressure. The device is very decent, but for such a price, the only advantage in this case is the long warranty.

The test “rice”

In the program Rice, 200 g of rice and 400 ml of water. The recipe calls for 30 minutes of cooking. The result – the rice was a little overcooked, we recommend decreasing the amount of water and the cooking time. Rice does not stick to the bottom.

Score: 9 out of 10.

The “baking” test

Our biscuit was ready in 50 minutes. Time and temperature can be adjusted – one of the most convenient baking programs in multicookers. The result is an airy, fluffy and evenly baked cake. The bottom is darker than I wanted it to be, but it does not burn. Perhaps you should have set the temperature to 150° C and a little longer instead of 180° C.

Score: 10 out of 10.

Test “frying”

In the Fry program, the meat is quickly and evenly fried, it took 22 minutes to cook chicken thighs, vegetables for soup – 4 minutes. We got both, beautiful crust. No temperature gradation for meat, fish or vegetables, but not really needed: you still have to watch the fried product.

Score: 10 out of 10.

No sticking to the bowl, texture is better suited for delicate risotto. For a crumbly consistency, you need to reduce the amount of water, or put the valve in the “open” position.
