Test of PHILIPS HD3039/00 Viva Collection multicooker

Article content

A model with very handy and simple controls and an aesthetic design. The non-stick bowl is great: thick walls, nothing burns, easy to clean! It is an “every day” appliance, but it has a number of limitations: there is no special mode for milk porridge and a low-temperature mode for delicate foods, and you can not set the cooking time of your choice in all programs.

PHILIPS HD3039/00 Viva Collection Multicooker

OPPORTUNITIES

Automatic programs: Rice/Greek, Spaghetti, Soup/Boil, Steam, Fry, Bake, Stew/Tauce, Warm, Heat.

Delayed start 24 hours .

Not all programs allow you to change the time, and you can’t change the cooking temperature. The appliance cooks at a low pressure, but it is not adjustable: it is not a pressure cooker.

Impressions

The manufacturer announces 18 temperature modes for different types of dishes, so many consumers who bought the gadget are disappointed with the “lack of” modes.

Let’s count: there are seven cooking programs Rice/Greek, Spaghetti, Soup/Boil, Steam, Fry, Bake, Stew/Tauce , but with the programs Warm and Leavening there are nine. But still it’s not cooking, so let’s stop at number seven.

Further, the Steamer and Roast programs have a choice of product type – fish, meat, vegetables. Let’s say these programs provide not two temperature modes but six 2×3 in total. It turns out: seven all programs minus two steam cooker and boil equals five. And now let’s add the available Steam and Fry programs with six modes, totaling 5+6=11. But not 18.

The seven cooking programs are very impressive. They all cook and are delicious! , but in some of them I was surprised by the control. On the one hand, it is good when you can set the time yourself still, the default 10 minutes for most soups is not enough . But it is possible to increase the time only in minute increments: if you press the “minute” button 20 times, you get exactly 30 minutes. We wanted to set it to 40 minutes – not so much time for soup. Press on, but the number 31 does not appear on the screen, but 0, that is, you have to press again.

In the programs Rice/Griddle and Steam cooker the default time and time setting are convenient. It’s nice that the delayed start has 10-minute and 1-hour intervals!

It was very disappointing that it is impossible to set the time in the Baking program, especially since the device bakes biscuits, muffins and even bread so wonderfully that the program will be a success. In most cases, the default 45 minutes was not enough time to bake the dough: add 20 minutes, but have to repeat the program and keep track of time.

The Roast program can be used without a lid for deep frying and long frying, and is renowned for its really high temperatures and excellent results, and can be used for deep frying in large quantities of oil.
