ERGONOMICS AND SAFETY

Blender handle not only has an ergonomic shape, but also has a regular, non-slip surface made of soft plastic. The power and turbo buttons are also soft, but most importantly they are well “sunk” and surrounded by a rubberized area, which means that the risk of the buttons being accidentally touched is minimal. But the buttons are not tight, you can press and hold them comfortably, but you need some effort: if you just touch them, or even just lightly press them, they do not work. And yet, for all its cleverness, a locking system would not be superfluous.

Attachment system – 2 snap buttons, everything is easy and simple.

The noise level of the device is average in turbo mode, but on 16 speed blender is pretty quiet. No vibration.

FUNCTIONAL

In fact, it’s not a blender, but almost a blender – so rich is the equipment. Viva Collection HR16 has 6 models from HR1633 to HR1638 and they differ only in accessories: cup, nozzle, bowl and other things. Only the blender and whisk are unchanged, that’s what we tested. This model is equipped with a chopper with a 1 liter bowl and a nozzle for pureeing, the ingredients are not only chopped but also passed through special holes to give the mass of homogeneity and airiness.

The blender has 16 speeds, they switch smoothly. There is also turbo mode.

QUALITY OF WORK

Vegetables. The result is a solid “B”: in a completely smooth mass of broccoli there are small pieces of potatoes, they did not disappear even on the second try. But they “gave up” when we used the nozzle for pureeing, not for the test, but just to see how it works. It really makes puree fluffy and smooth puree.

Milkshake with frozen strawberries. For unknown reasons the strawberries “refused” to be completely crumbled. Neither in the first nor in the second attempt to achieve full smoothness and homogeneity failed. The turbo mode did not help: “stubborn” pieces of strawberry remained enough to give the blender a not very high grade. Not bad, but better.

Protein. I used turbo mode to whip up my whites perfectly: the bar is 36 mm and the foam consistency is nice and strong.

NOTE FROM A “CONSUMER”

The blender blade is coated with titanium, externally in color it is very different from the competition blender knives. This knife is considered to be stronger. We hoped that this would help this device to outperform competitors, at least in tests with frozen berries, but we didn’t see outstanding results, although the berries were not “stone” at all. The bell is shaped like a pyramid, and this shape is claimed to be specially designed to prevent splashing. No splashing, though.

Philips

Multifunctionality, safety and well thought-out ergonomics, the ability to select the desired speed, turbo mode. Purée maker attachment. Good combination of price, quality and functionality.

Frozen fruits and berries are better defrosted.
