DESIGN FEATURES

The new TV from LG has a Full LED Slim backlight, in which the LEDs are located along the back plane of the screen which allows you to locally dim small areas of the screen to improve the depth of black , and the manufacturers have managed to achieve a relatively thin unit, comparable to models with Edge LED backlight. According to the manufacturer, the backlight of this model consists of 1200 LEDs.

We should also mention the stylish glossy screen surface that allows you to decorate practically any interior, and a very thin frame around the screen.

An interesting feature is that the TV comes with two remote controls. One standard, large size, the second, called Magic Motion – narrow, small. The second remote control controls the arrow similar to the usual arrow from a computer mouse , which moves to the desired item, then this item is selected with the appropriate button on the remote. The arrow on the screen moves by changing the remote control direction, as a beam in a laser pointer.

Note the large number of built-in toys that you can play at your leisure with this very small remote control.

As for the technology of picture enhancement, we can note the TruMotion 400 Hz, which is designed to optimize the picture, making the display of motion as smoothly as possible.

Also note that the TV set comes with two pairs of LG AG-S100 3D glasses.

PICTURE QUALITY

The plus side is that the colors of the image practically do not change when you change the viewing angle. LG 55LX9500 has a large margin of color and brightness.

When playing a 1080p signal from the component input, the resolution was about 670-680 TV lines. The image colors are reproduced with a good naturalness, the settings are present 3-step adjustment of image temperature, as well as settings of individual colors, their brightness, contrast and hue.

With a PAL signal, the comb on the slanting lines is almost invisible, the motion is displayed smoothly. Black is deep enough though catching the glare from external sources is a bit noticeable on the screen , dark scenes are not bad in detail. White is deep, white objects on a white background are also displayed with reasonable detail.

When the signal is fed to the HDMI input, the resolution was about 850 TV lines, which is a good result in the test.

When playing back the signal in the PAL system the slight “comb” is noticeable on the moving oblique lines, but the motion is also displayed smoothly.

Black tones are displayed with reasonably good level of detail, black is deep. The white color is saturated, the detail of bright scenes is not bad. To adjust the color palette there are many additional color adjustments.

There are some preset image modes: “Smart Sensor”, “Bright”, “Standard”, “Cinema”, “Sports”, “Games”, 2 modes “Expert”. Separate button on the remote control displays only 3 modes “Movie”, “Sport”, “Game” in the operative mode.

AUDIO QUALITY

The LG 55LX9500 speaker system has a rather good reserve of volume, there is no noticeable distortion on the whole volume scale.

For convenience, there are preset sound modes: “Standard”, “Music”, “Cinema”, “Sports”, “Games”, as well as the regulation of high and low frequencies.

The “Auto Volume” function automatically equalizes the sound level when there are variations in the original signal.

Volume control is represented by a ring in the corner of the screen.

SERVICE POSSIBILITIES

The main menu is represented by large square icons arranged in two rows on the screen.

Depending on the scene you can select one of the formats: “16:9”, “Source”, “4:3”, “14:9”, “Zoom”, “Zoom”.

The main remote control is large, with square digital buttons with large numbers, just below the middle there is a square navigation joystick, between the vertical rocker buttons there is a 3D button responsible for switching to 3D viewing mode.

When you call up a particular menu item, the main menu icons move to the left to make room for adjustments.

On/off timer and Sleep timer are available. Tamper-proof function.

In addition to the full menu, there’s a so-called Quick Menu with basic settings to quickly adjust various settings. It is quickly recalled with a separate button on the remote control and originally displayed in the form of a circle on the screen.
