The Pure Air air purifier is almost silent. At low speed night mode the noise level is only 22dB and at maximum 45dB.

Cleaning and care

HEPA and Odor filters have light indicators for timely replacement. They flash when the fine filter and active charcoal filter need to be changed, respectively. They take into account how long the air purifier is actually in use and the level of contamination in the room.

Carbon filter can be vacuumed and replaced once a year. Nano-filter can not be washed – only change for a new one when the color of granules changes depending on the saturation with formaldehyde there is a special table on the lid of the device and on the case of this filter .

Check the color once every six months. The frequency of replacement depends on the intensity of use and the cleanliness of the surrounding air: the higher the speed and the dirtier the air, the more often the replacement will be needed. But you can not save money, because it is your health.

Pre-cleaner filter is vacuumed or washed as it gets dirty two to three times a month. The particle and gas sensors need to be cleaned every two months.

To conduct the test we needed an apartment “without history”, preferably new, not stuffed and certainly not “cluttered” in our case it is even a large number of open bookshelves, carpets, old furniture : it is clear that in this case any device will find and “absorb” dust, pollen, and much more, up to small insects. But in your new apartment the air purifier will surely have to work hard, and we will have to understand how effective it really is.

We found an apartment for the test in a green neighborhood near New York. In a new house, with excellent repair and very clean. The family has two adults, a child and a cat. Adults after moving in feel some discomfort and, in the words of the hostess, “a constant light dustiness”, despite regular wet cleaning twice a week. And the question of buying a humidifier or air purifier had already arisen, so they liked our suggestion to “test it out” very much.

Appearance

The Tefal Pure Air has a very nice appearance: white housing, pleasant to the touch plastic. Fits easily into a modern interior. The interface is modern and understandable. The LCD screen is very easy to read: all the buttons are activated with a light touch. Brighter backlighting to brighten up your room. The LED is very economical and will not “devour” electricity, so look for free socket for a night light will not have, and a nice blue light will not irritate the eyes and wake at night. Packaging

The box of the device not only looks nice, but it also carries a lot of information about all the capabilities of the device, about each of the filters. The pictures on small “icons” show us clearly how to prepare the device and how to use it. Printed instructions are, of course, included, so you can use either one of the two. And if you lose the manual and throw the box away, you will find a hint under the removable lid of the appliance. There’s a detailed “storyboard” for the filter setting sequence – you can’t go wrong. If you set the front door wrong not to the click , you can be sure it won’t turn on!

Assembly. Getting ready to work

Filters are individually packaged. They are inserted in a certain order, you can not mix up, even accidentally, as each goes into its “socket”, and on the packaging sticker with the same mini-instruction. You hear the Nano-filter clicking sound when you put it in. Not only men, but also ladies can easily handle it. We checked if the hint is clear, first of all on the landlord and then on the hostess. “Quick and easy,” was their answer!

Installing and starting to work

Following the instructions, we install the air cleaner, leaving 50 cm of free space on each side. The air inlet and outlet grills are clean and perfectly clear. All the filters are properly installed. Plugging in the device. As in this model there is a particle sensor located in the right side of the case , which determines the degree of air pollution, we focus on automatic mode and color indicator: blue – excellent air quality, purple – medium, red – poor.

The apartment that we chose was very clean, as evidenced by the indicator light, which winks blue even after 15 minutes of operation. But for more polluted rooms there is a choice of settings. They can be changed by pressing the button to adjust the speed of filtration, as described in detail in the manual.

We check Pure Air for “noisiness” by switching on all modes one by one. Even at the maximum we do not have to raise the voice! And after turning on night mode, we hear the faint sound of the device. But that’s during the daytime, but what will the same sound prove to be at night? This we will find out in a week. The testers told us that their sleep is very sensitive.

For the entire period of operation of the device in the apartment three weeks , the owners turned off the device, leaving the house. We opened the windows when we entered the apartment to air it out, then turned on the device. At night we switched to night mode.

The results of the first week are as follows

The landlord is happy and said the air is much fresher, more comfortable and he gets to sleep quicker.

The device works very quietly – it doesn’t buzz or crackle like our testers thought before, it doesn’t even wake the cat up in night mode. The air stream is not in the way, it’s not blowing, it’s going up.

But the hostess still has not got rid of the “feeling of a slight dustiness”, but perhaps the second week of tests will strengthen the result.

Dust can be seen on the pre-filter. Not thick, very light and fluffy, hardly noticeable.

We can also see a light dust deposit on the activated charcoal filter.

We examined the inlet as well – the filter niche. Dust was found only on the area between the lid and the pre-filter. Not much, but it’s very clear. The next site in front of the charcoal filter also has the thinnest layer.

Second week

The second week revealed no visual changes in the filters, but the work in the heat was able to show the results of the device from a very positive side, there was no feeling of “lack of air”, the desire to open the window. The temperature in the living room at night and in the bedroom was at its most comfortable.

The hostess cooked a lot over the weekend, but even after airing the smells were too pungent. The Tefal Pure Air was switched on to help the hood, which really neutralized cooking smells and sharp smells of kebab that penetrated into the apartment, and the appliance also neutralized them after a while.

We decided not to even take the filters off yet, and left the air purifier for another week.

The third week

Now we can already see with our own eyes the light covering of dust on the pre-filter. Cat hair never showed up… The charcoal filter has turned silver-gray, an indication that it is actively working to clean the air in your home. The Hepa-filter has turned a little grey, but the Nano has remained pristine and the color of the granules has not changed.

We can see the dust on the pad in front of Nano, but after it we are already clean – we can see that it works perfectly. Velvety sealing around the perimeter also helped to prevent dust from getting in.

According to our testers, the atmosphere in the house is more comfortable now, there is almost no dust accumulation, you fall asleep quicker, sleep deeper at night, and waking up easier.As it turned out, and post-renovation odors inherent in the new apartment have almost gone away, which was a pleasant surprise!

At the family meeting it was decided to buy a similar device, taking into consideration the size of the premises and despite the already installed air conditioner in the living room.

The only drawback is probably the lack of child lock.

Is it possible to switch on the device together with an air conditioner??

The unit may be plugged in all the time, which means that it can run for a week without interruption?

Pure Air can work without interruption. But for safety reasons, it is better to turn it off when you leave your home. Not necessarily from the network, you can use the off button.

We also recommend cleaning the pre-filter once a week, or as it gets dirty, to keep it working efficiently.

Can I open the window when the appliance is running?

You can open the window, but the specificity is that the cleaner is able to pass through itself to 160 m ³ h, and purified air will simply mix with street air, plus, if the window is constantly open, the filters will continuously absorb contamination, and will need to change them more often. It can take a lot longer to completely purify the air in a large room than originally planned.
