Tamron, the leading manufacturer of optical products for various applications, announces the new 70-210 mm F/4 Di VC USD Model A034 , a compact telezoom lens for full-frame DSLR cameras. The new telephoto lens is water-resistant and has a protective fluoride coating on the front lens for easy outdoor shooting and superior optical performance.
Capture the moment in its true colors
Capitalizing on Tamron’s longstanding experience with telephoto zoom lenses, the A034 delivers outstanding optical performance, high resolution and superior contrast. The optical design, which includes 20 elements in 14 groups, uses three LD Low Dispersion lens elements to correct axial and transverse chromatic aberrations, resulting in sharp and crystal clear images throughout the frame.
In addition, the Tamron 70-2 10 mm F/4 Di VC USD has a constant maximum aperture of F/4 at the entire zoom range, which provides excellent control over the depth of field and quality bokeh. Compared to the brighter telephoto lenses, the new A034 is lighter and more compact: it weighs 850 g and has an overall length of 174 mm. The new lens is lighter and smaller, making it easier than ever to shoot in any environment.
The Tamron 70-2 10 mm F/4 Di VC USD boasts a class-leading maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.1 and the shortest MOD 0.95m focus distance in its class. The shorter working distance enables photographers to get close-up shots of small subjects, such as flowers.
Fast autofocus and efficient stabilization system
Thanks to the internal zoom mechanism, the physical length of the Tamron 70-2 10 mm F/4 Di VC USD does not change during focal length changes, thus minimizing lens center of gravity shifts and providing more stable performance. Also, photographers don’t have to step back even when the shooting space is limited, such as when photographing over a wire fence in a zoo.
Reliable autofocus tracking and optical stabilization systems are essential in a long zoom lens. Tamron’s Dual MPU micro-processing unit strikes a balance between these functions. The unit is made up of two separate microprocessors, one for lens control, including autofocus, and the other for optical image stabilization. Each microprocessor has its own DSP Digital Signal Processing for superior auto-focus and image stabilization performance.
Advances in Tamron technology have created an autofocus that’s as fast as lightning, so you can capture the exact moment you need. The USD Ultrasonic Silent Drive enables fast, high-precision focusing, giving photographers additional confidence.
The original Tamron VC system provides up to 4 steps of optical stabilization to compensate for camera movement, which is especially useful in low-light conditions. So you can get sharp pictures even at dusk or in dim light in confined spaces.
Rugged, water-resistant design
The surface of the front lens is coated with a protective oleo- and hydrophobic fluoride compound. This makes the lens surface easy to clean and less susceptible to dust, sand and moisture and prevents fingerprints from getting on the lens.
Rubber seals are placed in the lens mount area and other critical areas to prevent the penetration of moisture and/or rain drops, creating a water-resistant construction. This feature provides an extra layer of protection for the lens when shooting outdoors in adverse weather conditions.

Two exclusive new teleconverters can be used with the Tamron A034 70-210mm F/4 lens, providing an increase in focal length of 1.4 i 2.0 times the maximum focal length is thus 420mm. With teleconverters, the A036 becomes a full-fledged ultra-telephoto.
Compatible with the TAMRON TAP-in
The optional TAP-in™ console links the lens to a personal computer via a USB port to let you easily update the lens firmware, as well as adjust autofocus and optical stabilization settings.
Optional tripod mount compatible with Arca-Swiss quick shoe mounts
A separately available Arca-Swiss mount bracket can be ordered for the A034 lens. Arca-Swiss mounts make it easy to detach and attach the bracket to the tripod mount during photography. To keep the weight of the lens and lens mount light, the mount is made of lightweight, yet durable magnesium alloy.
The tripod mount gives a stable support during shooting, unlike the camera tripod mount which prevents blurred images. When attaching the lens to the tripod, the photographer retains the ability to rotate the camera with the lens around its axis, making it easier for you to compose your shot.
