A new level of performance
FE 70-200mm F2 lens.8 GM OSS II delivers outstanding image quality and superb resolution. Captures images with excellent clarity across the entire image field throughout the entire zoom range, even at the maximum aperture. Its optical scheme uses two aspherical lenses, including an XA extreme aspherical lens manufactured with a surface finish of 0.01 microns. Thanks to these elements, the FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II effectively combats distance-related aberration and delivers crisp, detailed images over its entire area.
In addition, the new lens has two ED extra-low dispersion spherical elements and one Super ED spherical element, which reduce chromatic aberration without color bleeding. The lens uses an aspherical ED lens for the first time in the Alpha system. It simultaneously suppresses chromatic aberration and spherical aberration, which are typical problems with telephoto lenses.
Smooth and beautiful bokeh effect achieved with the large aperture of F2.8 with 11 rounded blades. Whatâs more, an advanced optic design incorporating XA-type elements, corrects the undesirable onion rings effect, resulting in even more pleasing bokeh. FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II also lets you take great close-up shots with stunning bokeh. The minimum focus distance is 40 cm at 70 mm focal length and 82 cm at 200 mm focal length. Maximum magnification of 0.3x. FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II teleconverter compatible 1.4x and 2.0x. When used with the 2x tele conversion lens, the maximum focal length is 400 mm at F5.6 and preserving the quality for which the G Series Master is known.
To avoid unwanted flare and smudges of color in difficult lighting conditions, Sony has applied their proprietary Nano AR Coating II on the surface of the front lens. In addition, the optical design of the FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II effectively suppresses internal reflection to enhance image clarity.

The manual focus ring with linear response reacts sensitively to the slightest rotation, allowing you to focus very precisely. The lens comes with a lens hood with a special opening that gives access to a circular polarizing filter or a variable density neutral gray filter, so they can be rotated even with the hood on.

FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II also has three customizable focus lock buttons. They are spaced every 90 degrees, so they are easy to use in both horizontal and vertical orientations and at any angle.
On the body of the FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS II has on/off and aperture lock switches that make it easy to control. Snap iris control can be turned on for haptic feedback when taking stills, or off when youâre shooting video and donât want distracting noises in your recordings, for example.
