The lens uses an optical system of 8 elements in seven groups, including three aspherical lenses. By optimally positioning the aspherical elements, aberrations are suppressed effectively across the entire zoom range and high resolution is achieved, both centrally and peripherally.
The minimum focus distance of 0.3m wide angle to 0.45m telephoto lets you get close-up shots of, for example, food or flowers, while the seven rounded aperture diaphragm blades produce beautiful bokeh. The lens is also equipped with a thread, which gives the ability to mount filters with a diameter of 40.5mm
The auto-focusing system of the lens uses a linear motor for direct, non-contact electromagnetic control of the focusing lens group, resulting in fast response, high precision of adjustment and extremely quiet operation. The lens is therefore perfect for shooting movies and makes the most of the camera’s AF functions, such as tracking AF or real-time autofocus.
