Panasonic has officially announced the LEICA DG VARIO-ELMARIT 50-200mm/ F2 telephoto zoom lens.8-4.0 ASPH, the third and final model in the series of lenses with an aperture of F2.8-4.0. The new lens covers the equivalent range of focal lengths from 100 mm to 400 mm and has a waterproof and dustproof body.Built-in Power OIS can work in conjunction with in-camera stabilization when attached to Lumix cameras that support Dual IS technology.
The lens design consists of 21 elements in 15 groups, including two UED Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion lenses, two ED Extra-Low Dispersion lenses and two aspherical lenses to minimize various distortions and chromatic aberrations throughout the entire focal length range and throughout the frame. To suppress flare and ghosting, all elements are coated with a special Nano Surface Coating.
The linear actuator in the inner focus system enables precise and silent autofocus, while the micro-step actuator in the aperture control allows smooth changes in brightness during zooming or panning. Other features include: 9-blade rounded aperture, 0.75 m minimum focusing distance, 0.5x maximum magnification. The lens dimensions are 76x132mm at 655g
