Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX10/TX100V compact cameras are fine down to a depth of 5 meters and are not afraid of snow and rain

The Cyber-shot TX10 and TX100V have such amazing and unique features that it would be easy to devote a big review of several pages to each of them. We’ll confine ourselves to an abbreviated list of key features, and with the details you can read already in the store or at home, after the purchase. Let’s start with the platform that unites both cameras.

16.2MP 25-100 4x 3″ $490 – 3.5″ $580

The platform is quite attractive by today’s standards. First of all, it includes the new generation of proprietary Exmor R backlit sensor with an effective resolution of 16.2 million. pixels.

Despite the highest resolution in class, the system provides high-quality shooting at sensitivities up to 3200 ISO, and demonstrates, as before, the highest speed performance: up to 10 frames per second in continuous mode and Full HD movies with AVCHD recording in stereo sound.

What’s more, the TX100V records “full-size” video at an astonishing 60 or 50 frames per second – it’s actually the first compact camera to shoot at 1920×1080@60p.

Both cameras are also equipped with lenses of the same type with a focal range of 25-100 mm, equipped with optical stabilization systems. Finally, the interfaces of both the TX10 and the TX100V are touch and gesture based which means touch sensitive screens.

Here’s where the differences begin. The TX100V specializes more in style and feel. Its 97×59×18 mm body houses a gorgeous 3.5-inch OLED display with 1.23 million. points. TX10 is a little more interesting: the size of its body is 96 × 56 × 18 mm, and touch-sensitive LCD on the older model seemed to be quite usual – “only” 3 inches at a resolution of 921 thousand square meters. points. The exceptional and unique feature of this camera is that it is a rugged rugged compact.

You would be hard pressed to believe it: after all, for years cameras with increased survivability have had a cheesy design and inferior performance.

TX10, rejecting this image as a matter of principle, looks nice and does not scare a person with normal, “not sporty” taste with wild colors or bolts sticking out in all directions.

At the same time the camera is fine in a depth of 5 meters even underwater you can do without buttons in TX10 control and not afraid of spray, snow or rain. And it withstands falls from a meter and a half, frost and dust. We’ve already told you about the specs – not many compacts can compete with the TX10 even without taking into account its protective systems.
