Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V/DSC-HX100V compact cameras won’t be beaten in all their skills

The class of ultrafocus in compact cameras is often associated with a uselessly huge optical zoom in a big body zoom for the sake of zoom , and nobody bothers to think if and how exactly they should use the available hundreds of millimeters. Sony developers are different. In their vision an ultra-zoom is necessarily complemented by a high-sensitivity, also high-speed matrix and a number of technologies that make cameras not only sensibly useful, but also very comfortable.

At least models like Cyber-shot DSC-HX9V and Cyber-shot DSC-HX100V are definitely capable of it. Few other cameras, even the newest competitors, can match them in terms of available functions, and certainly none can surpass these two cameras in all their abilities.

To start with, both cameras feature the latest proprietary Exmor R backlit CMOS sensor with an effective resolution of 16.2 million. pixels. And the sensors and electronics of the cameras, despite the increased resolution, are still very fast.

In burst mode, the speed is up to 10 full-size 4608×3456 pixels frames per second – not many “system” cameras can boast of half that result.

At the same time, the developers claimed they managed to reduce the focusing lag down to an average of 0.1 second. High detail video mode captures dynamic scenes in Full HD 1920×1080 pixels in 50 i AVCHD and with stereo sound.

Two other picture modes, panoramic and three-dimensional, have also evolved significantly. Updated Sweep Panorama with HR High Resolution . e. high-resolution doesn’t just create a panoramic image by wire – it records nearly 43 million pixels in a single wide image of 10480×4096 dots!

A similar technique though with a lower final resolution is used to create 3D panoramas – stereo images which can later be viewed on 3D TVs or similar devices with anaglyph glasses.

Both models are equipped with 3-inch displays with a resolution of 921 thousand. points. And the DSC-HX100 V has the screen mounted on a hinged mechanism that lets you shoot from the waist or from a higher angle.

Finally, another perspective capability, which is especially interesting for those, who plan to go on a trip or hike with a new camera, is built-in GPS-modules with compasses.

Both the HX9V and HX100V capture the geographic coordinates and even the direction of each shot, which can then be used to georeference your photos to a map.

Supercams differ from each other by installed optics and body design. HX9V is made in the traditional compact format: in its tight body about 3.5 cm thick houses a 16x zoom lens Sony G 24-384 mm.

The HX100V is a classic zoom lens in a large and quite heavy body about 580g but with a powerful 30x Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonar T* 27-810mm zoom lens F2.8-5.6 in wide angle and telephoto respectively .

Personally we are in favor of compactness rather than superfluous zoom, but one thing we can say quite objectively: no matter which model of these two you have chosen, there is no steeper camera on the market.

These Sony cameras seem to be highly impressive based on the claim. Can anyone provide more information or personal experience about how they perform in various aspects such as image quality, low-light performance, ease of use, and overall durability? I’m interested in purchasing one but want to be sure it’s truly the best option out there.

Sony cameras have several standout features that differentiate them from other compact camera models. Firstly, they often come equipped with advanced image sensors, such as the Exmor RS sensor, which enables excellent image quality even in low light conditions. Additionally, Sony cameras are known for their fast autofocus systems, allowing for capturing sharp and detailed images quickly. They also often include high-quality image stabilization technology, reducing blur caused by camera shake. Moreover, Sony offers a wide range of lenses and accessories, providing versatility and customization options for photographers.
