Sony unveiled a new addition to its renowned G-mount range of full-frame lenses, the 24mm F1.4 G Master Prime SEL24F14GM . In the new lens uses the most advanced optical technology of Sony, providing excellent performance, high resolution and soft bokeh effect, even at maximum aperture f/1.4. The new lensās advantages include compactness, lightness, portability, fast and accurate AF, and professional handling and reliability.
A compact, lightweight lens with a new optical design
The optical design of the new lens has 13 elements in 10 groups, including two XA Extreme Aspherical elements and three ED Extra-low Dispersion elements. XA-type elements achieve uniformly high resolution throughout the frame, and three low-dispersive lens elements effectively suppress chromatic aberration. In addition, Sonyās original Nano AR coating technology effectively suppresses internal reflections that cause glare and ghosting to ensure optimal contrast and clarity in various shooting conditions.
Improved 11-blade rounded aperture design and precise control of spherical aberration at the manufacturing stage produce a soft bokeh effect. And with a minimum focus distance of 0.24m and a maximum of 0.17x zoom, coupled with a wide angle of view, the lens captures the incredible perspective and powerful bokeh effect of close-up photography.
A new, more powerful DDSSM autofocus drive system delivers fast, accurate and silent focusing, ensuring unparalleled performance in still and video photography. Thanks to XA elements to reduce overall lens diameter and the new DDSSM drive system, the lens weighs only 445 grams, making it ideal for compact E mount cameras.
Professional control features for shooting stills and video
The new lens also includes a number of professional controls that make both still photography and video shooting easier. Aperture ring provides instant response to adjustments, much needed by professional photographers and cameramen. Separate switch lets you turn on or off clicks in aperture steps. Snaps add a tactile response that gives you a better feel for adjusting the ring, which any photographer will appreciate. When the clicks are off, the aperture ring moves more gently and smoothly, ensuring silent adjustment when shooting video.
Focus ring features manual focus with linear response for more precise, sensitive adjustments. Focus changes linearly according to the rotation of the focus ring, making manual adjustments easier, making them faster and more accurate. Other controls include an adjustable focus hold button and focus mode switch, allowing you to quickly select automatic or manual focus to suit changing shooting conditions

High reliability even in the harshest conditions
The focus ring is made of rubberized material for easy operation even at low temperatures, the lens hood is equipped with a retainer to prevent it from opening during transportation, and the dust- and waterproof design guarantees high reliability when using the lens outdoors. In addition, the lens front element has a fluoride coating that protects the lens surface from fingerprints, dust, water, oil and dirt, and makes it easy to clean.
Price and affordability
Sony FE 24mm F1 Sales.4 GM is scheduled for October 2018. The lens is estimated to cost $1400
