Sony has announced the wired controller CCB-WD1 that it had promised for the RX0, and has updated its PlayMemories mobile app that will enhance the remote control capabilities. CCB-WD1 allows you to precisely synchronize camera settings for the perfect VR shot and is used to create a “Bullet Time” effect.
The CCB-WD1 offers inter-frame synchronization between cameras as well as timecode synchronization, which makes multi-camera shooting much easier. Computers running Windows 7 8.1 10 and Mac OS X 10.11 10.12-10.13, can connect to the control unit via IP protocol, using a Web browser, where the cameras can be assigned names, monitor their work, and make the necessary settings.
Captured video files can be renamed by giving them the name of the camera on which they were recorded. It optimizes post-processing by avoiding confusion and duplicate recording of video files. Wired for control and synchronization of multiple pairs of RX0 cameras and control units – up to 100 units in total.
PlayMemories Mobile v6 update.2 allows 50 RX0 units to be controlled remotely by the router. The new version of the application also provides a list of all connected cameras, the ability to turn all cameras on and off simultaneously via Bluetooth and the ability to group control cameras.
The new CCB-WD1 camera control unit will go on sale next month for $700. PlayMemories Mobile v6.2 will be available starting Jan. 30, 2018.
This is intriguing! Can you provide more details about the wired control unit for the RX0 camera? What functionalities does it offer and how does it enhance the user experience compared to the camera’s built-in controls? Additionally, is it compatible with other Sony cameras or only specifically designed for the RX0 model?
