Pentax Q/Q10 camera review

The Pentax Q mirrorless family ā€“ the most unusual cameras in the class. From the standard scheme ā€œmaximum quality in minimum volumeā€ developers took only the second half small size , whereas in terms of quality Q is not ahead of simple compacts.

The Pentax Q/Q10

The system is based on a tiny 1/2.3 inch form factor sensor, so in terms of specifications like noise or range of reproduced brightness the Pentax Q doesnā€™t differ from travel-compactors or ultrazooms for instance. But the units have a mount, several tiny lenses to choose from, and at the same time as the updated Q10 also appeared an adapter for ā€œfull-sizeā€ Pentax K lenses.

The electronics are well developed and offer decent functionality. Fast burst shooting, Full HD video recording, in-camera photo editing and ā€œprofessionalā€ features like depth of field control mode. The updated Q10 differs from the first Pentax Q in that it has an improved sensor, faster focusing, and a slightly more subtle body design.

A significant part of the Pentax Q concept is the idea of ā€œtaking photography lightly and without undue seriousnessā€: you can feel it in the cameras and in the optics for them. The idea is good and right, because the over-concentration of other photographers on purely technical aspects of photography is often confusing. Keep it simple! However, thereā€™s a ā€œbutā€. Prices for the technique and accessories of the system Q is not that particularly ridiculous. And why not buy a camera with much better image quality for the same money is not an idle question..
