The release of the NX Field will be taken over by NPS Nikon Professional Services , which offers service and support on behalf of Nikon to professional photographers around the world. The system is currently compatible with Nikon D6 and Nikon D5 DSLRs, with mirrorless cameras such as the Nikon Z9, Z 7II and Z 6II expanding this list in the future.

When multiple compatible Nikon DSLRs are connected to the system, the master camera can simultaneously control the shutter release on all remote cameras. You need a wired or wireless LAN. By downloading the NX Field app, the shutter release on remote cameras can be controlled from a smartphone or tablet. The app allows you to do some things remotely, including transferring images in Live View, changing camera settings, and viewing and downloading images.

NX Field supports remote shooting via a 5G network or WAN connection, allowing remote access to the camera. For example, you can operate the cameras in Tokyo without even being in Japan. Remote cameras can be placed where the photographer has no access to himself, such as at the finish line of a race track or under the roof of a stadium, and using the NX Field to capture the most interesting moments from unusual angles. What’s more, the system makes it possible to automatically upload images from the master and remote cameras to an FTP server in seconds.

Nikon will be regularly updating the NX Field to make reporters and sports journalists even more comfortable. To use NX Field, you have to install special firmware on the cameras a paid service and download the NX Field app to your smartphone or tablet. More information about the setup will be available on the NPS website >.
