Nikon Introduces Flagship Camera Z9

Nikon has unveiled the Z9, its flagship camera, which is set to mark a new milestone not only in Nikon’s history, but in the entire professional photography industry. The mirrorless camera is equipped with a new full-frame CMOS image sensor with a resolution of 45.7 megapixels, developed by Nikon engineers, and an ultra-fast processor EXPEED 7. The Nikon Z 9 has an advanced autofocus system, 3D tracking, best-in-class video capabilities, a superior electronic viewfinder, shooting speeds up to 120 frames per second, exposure metering, and many other features.

“The Z9 is our most advanced camera, one of the best solutions on the market,” said Dirk Jasper, product marketing manager for Nikon Europe, “A truly breakthrough product is something that few. This camera is definitely one of them. Outstanding processing capabilities, high-speed shooting and AI-powered technology, along with ergonomics, help photographers meet any challenge, be it low light, harsh weather conditions or an object in the frame. With this camera’s technical capabilities, professionals can take their skills to the next level.

Z 9 is designed for those who want to push the limits of what is possible in photography and video. It is suitable for professionals, shooting wildlife and sports, as well as for photojournalists. For those who want exceptional EVF image quality, AF, easy operation and reliability that’s even better than the D6. Also for those who are connected with fashion and advertising and want to express their creativity through high-resolution photos and movies. Movie makers needing a high-quality, effective and versatile solution will also love it.

Superior AF and 3D tracking capabilities

The AF system includes 493 AF points, 405 of which support automatic AF-area selection, five times that of the Z 7II, and 10 AF-area modes let you optimize the AF-area setting for any task. Advanced detection system with AI and machine learning detects up to nine different types of subjects simultaneously. Combined with 3D tracking technology – the first in Nikon’s line of mirrorless cameras – it allows you to capture every significant moment. The Z 9 understands what you’re shooting – from people to animals to cars – and reacts instantly to changes in position, direction or speed.

Revolutionary video recording capabilities

Thanks to incredible resolution, you can record full-frame movies in 8K from 24p to 60p and 4K from 24p to 120p and time-lapse video right on the Z 9. The maximum duration of a single 8K 30p movie is about 125 minutes – a record time among mirrorless cameras . What’s more, the ProRes 422 HQ recording format is available to meet a wide range of video production requirements. After a firmware update, the camera supports smooth RAW 8K 60p movie recording. Constant AF/AE and eye-detect AF are supported when recording movies, and Nikon’s new N-RAW file format has a smaller file size than the standard.

High speed

Capture over 1,000 full-resolution RAW images per burst at 20 frames per second. And with the new C+ mode, you can achieve up to 120 frames per second in JPEG at normal quality and 11MP with constant AF/AE. The world’s fastest sensor virtually eliminates the rolling shutter effect, so there is no mechanical shutter in this model. The camera’s ability to shoot at a shutter speed of 1/32,000 and ISO 64 guarantees a shallow depth of field, even in extremely bright conditions.

Delay-free, real-time imaging

The Z 9 features the brightest 3000 nit electronic viewfinder. It’s always active and doesn’t dim when you’re shooting, so you won’t miss a shot. The picture is shown continuously on the Z 9 display in real time, so that even the slightest movement of the subject or changes in fill-out can be detected.

Ergonomic and reliable

Another Nikon innovation is the Z 9 monitor, a four-axis tilting monitor that can be positioned for easy framing. Every aspect of this camera screams serious work. Its ergonomic features, such as button layout, were improved with feedback from professional photographers. It is more durable than the D6, allowing it to work even in the harshest conditions. A new AF mode button has been added to switch from AF mode to AF-area mode when shooting with the viewfinder, and the power switch can be used to turn on the backlight of the upper and rear LCD control panels and buttons, making it easier to adjust settings in the dark.
