In addition to automatic switching between the compartments, there is a possibility to control this function manually, when the user chooses the type of beans he wants. The brewing button is disabled if the bean hopper is empty. In addition, the espresso machine tells you when it is almost full beforehand, not when half of a cup is ready, so no more frustration and no more wasted coffee.

You can also use ground coffee in the machine it has to be put in a separate shaft , but we have not tested this function.

STANDARD RECIPES – UNIQUE POSSIBILITIES

In the second case it is the other way around: milk and milk froth and only then espresso. By the way, part of the name of this coffee drink – “macchiato” – means the 2 coffee dots left on top of the milk foam. The user can adjust the desired coffee strength: extra mild no pre-infusion , mild, normal, strong, very strong with pre-infusion. But that’s not all – the temperature of the beverage can also be selected: low 87 ° C , normal 90 ° C , high 93 ° C .

If you make a mistake with the settings or just change your mind, you can change the parameters before or during the brewing process – using the slider on the control panel.

VARIATIONS ON A THEME

Inside the main recipe menu, there is a submenu that allows you to choose from 18 coffee specialties based on one of the standard recipes. The ESPRESSO submenu contains recipes for a 30 ml Ristretto, 60 ml Lungo, 80 ml Double espresso where a normal espresso is 40 ml , 60 ml Double Ristretto.

The submenu COFFEE CREAM includes the algorithms for double creme 120 ml coffee, while regular creme is 60 ml , Americano 120 ml water, 30 ml coffee , extra shot Americano 150 ml water, 60 ml coffee , long black 100 ml water, 80 ml coffee . The submenu Cappuccino shows the Espresso Machiato 30 ml coffee, 20 ml milk , Latte 70 ml coffee, 110 ml milk , Coffee with milk 100 ml coffee, 50 ml milk .

The submenu LATTE MACIATO includes such recipes as latte macchiato extra shot 120 ml of milk and 80 ml of coffee, while the regular one has 70 ml , latte macchiato triple shot 90 ml of coffee , Flat White 60 ml of coffee and 30 ml of milk .

WHAT IS IN MY NAME?? – RECIPE!

The programmable memory of the coffee machine allows 4 different user profiles to be stored: by default they are called Barista 1, 2, 3 and 4. But thanks to the American keyboard which is shown on the display , it is possible to enter up to 4 names.

Up to 4 drinks can be added to the memory of each account and each brew parameter volume, strength, quantity of foam can be changed according to the user preferences. After you have finished entering the recipes into the memory, only 2 buttons are needed to select your personal beverage: “My coffee” and the desired beverage. Of course, the created “account” can be easily deleted or returned to the factory settings.

DOUBLE PLEASURE

The preparation of two cups is provided for standard drinks: espresso, cappuccino, coffee creamer, latte macchiato.

Turning on the function is elementary: just press 2-cup button on the control panel and select a drink. We made cappuccino: the machine pours coffee carefully, a couple of ideal cups are ready in a minute.

COMMUNICATION OF SUCCESS

The machine informs the user about all the necessary actions with the corresponding inscriptions: “No coffee in tank”, “Drip tray full, need to clean drip tray”, “Easy rinse”, “Connect tube to drip tray”, “No water in tank”, etc.p.

The only thing we missed was the lack of a signal that the milk container was not connected to the tube that connects it to the coffee machine. So, once we forgot to move the tube from the drip tray back to the milk container after a light rinse, chose a latte macchiato and were surprised by the complete absence of milk in the drink.

For example, a ristretto is a highly concentrated version of an espresso, with always more caffeine, while a double ristretto consists of two ristrettoes brewed one after the other, giving it a strong bitter taste and giving it the same amount of caffeine as a normal ristretto.

A lungo is an espresso made with twice the amount of water, which makes it milder in taste. Coffee cream is a traditional Swiss beverage, brewed on the principle of espresso, but with special light-roasted beans, which guarantees a more delicate taste. An Americano is an espresso much diluted with hot water, and for all its variations extra shot, long black the order of adding ingredients is important: water and only then espresso, to create the crema.

It is worth noting that there are a great many options for the ratio of foam, milk and coffee in cappuccino and latte macchiato. For example, a classic latte macchiato consists of 70 ml of espresso and 120 ml of milk foam, a latte macchiato extra shot consists of 2 portions of espresso 2×40 ml and 120 ml of milk foam, while the triple shot variation consists of 3×30 ml of espresso and 120 ml of milk foam. Coffee au Lait is 100 ml of coffee cream and 50 ml of milk, and Flat White is a double espresso 2×30 ml and 30 ml of milk foam. And if you add 150 ml of hot water to a double espresso instead of milk foam, you get an extra shot Americano – all these and a lot of other subtleties the Melitta CaffeO Barista TS knows.
