And more recently, the appliances themselves have become a screen: some ovens are equipped with a video camera, and now you can see the whole cooking process in real time on the glass of the oven, without opening the door.

Color is a design key. Neutral-colored furniture allows appliances to paint the interior. Metal and wood are the most common combinations of materials in the kitchen. And sometimes metal becomes similar to wood: refrigerators and ovens are painted in colors as close to wood as possible.

The glass-ceramic tops, once only black, have also become a striking design element. White models and cream-coloured panelling can be found in any self-respecting company’s range.
