Leica is releasing a limited edition M10 Zagato Edition camera

Leica Camera AG has announced a limited series of M10 cameras, created in cooperation with the Italian design studio Zagato, which develops bodies for luxury cars. The camera is released in quantities of 250 and is equipped with a special Summilux-M 35mm f 1 lens.4, which has a built-in hood and an extra stop on the focus ring.

Mirrorless Cameras

The main feature of the new design is that the camera is made entirely of aluminum, from the controls to the top and bottom plates. The usual Leica leather trim on limited editions is also missing. Instead, the body is covered in a series of ribbed grooves, in full Zagato spirit.

Ribbons are not just a design feature, they also contribute to a more secure grip, preventing accidental slipping out. For the same purpose, the camera got an extra ledge on the right side. Thanks to the use of aluminum, the weight of the limited edition has been reduced by 70 grams compared to the original M10. The final touch is the change of the red Leica logo to black and white and the red-painted shutter button.

Photo equipment

The limited edition version is similar in technical specifications to the existing Leica M10. The camera uses a full frame CMOS sensor with 24 megapixel resolution and an ISO sensitivity range of 100 to 50,000. Continuous shooting speed of 5 fps, and built-in Wi-Fi lets you remotely control the camera with your smartphone and quickly share images on social media

Price and availability

The Leica M10 “Edition Zagato is available from select Leica stores for $23900. By comparison, the price of a regular M10 with a 35 mm Summilux lens is $12600
