Leica Camera AG announced the new C-Lux compact camera, which is actually a restyling of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ200. The feature of the new camera is a large 1-inch CMOS sensor, high-quality lens, fast focusing, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, as well as shooting 4K video.
The sensor used in the camera has an effective resolution of 20 megapixels and a basic range of ISO 125 to 12800 – expandable to ISO 80 and 25600. Electronic mechanical shutter allows shutter speeds from 60 to 1/16000 sec. Fast and accurate 49-point contrast focusing system combined with a maximum shooting speed of 10 fps will not let you miss the most important moments, and intuitive scene modes provide valuable help in shooting landscapes, portraits and night scenes.
The camera uses high-quality LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens with 15x optical zoom and an equivalent range of focal lengths from 24 to 360 mm. Maximum aperture value of f /3.3 for 24mm and f/6.4 for 360mm. The optical system has 11 elements in 13 groups, including five aspherical lenses, three low dispersive lenses and one low dispersive aspherical lens. Also features optical stabilization, which effectively compensates for hand shake, allowing you to capture sharp images without blurring, in almost every shooting situation.
Electronic video viewfinder and LCD monitor are used as standard for framing. The viewfinder has a magnification of 0.53x, resolution 2.33 mil.points. and makes it easier to take pictures in bright sunlight. Since the viewfinder covers 100% of the frame, the framing is quite accurate and users have full control over the composition. As for the LCD screen, it has a 3-inch touch screen and a resolution of 1.5 mm.24 mil.points. No screen adjustment, but touch focus and shutter release function. The screen also has a special oleophobic coating that prevents fingerprints.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity are very important features of the camera which allows remote control of the camera with a smartphone and instant sharing of pictures on social networks. To realize these capabilities, you need to install the “Leica C-Lux” app on your smartphone, which is available for iOS and Android. It captures still images at 30 fps and 100 MB/s in 4K quality as well as still images in RAW and JPEG format. Also includes the ability to extract 8MP JPEG files from 4K videos.
