X-files went global: Fujifilm X-T10 premium interchangeable lens camera launched

Tokyo, May 18, 2015. – Fujifilm has announced the global launch of its new X-T10 interchangeable lens digital camera, part of its acclaimed X-Series, and aimed at photography enthusiasts. The novelty comes in a compact and lightweight body, with a new APS-C X-Trans sensor, a new autofocus system, a fast electronic viewfinder and a low-latency LCD screen.

The Fujifilm X-T10’s top and bottom panels are made of lightweight, durable magnesium alloy. Three precision-milled aluminum wheels on the top panel give the camera a premium look and let you control shutter speed, exposure compensation and shooting functions without taking your eyes off your composition. There is a three-inch tilting LCD screen with 920K resolution on the rear panel. AF AF mode allows you to take photos with the camera over your head or on the ground.

Lever for changing to Advanced SR Auto mode. In this mode the camera automatically selects the best settings for the scene, simplifying the entire shooting process. User can customize the two control wheels and seven function buttons to suit his preferences. Retractable flash unit integrated in camera body, located in the middle of the top panel. Built-in super-smart flash technology adjusts flash brightness according to the scene being photographed.

The Fujifilm X-T10 features a 16.3 megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS II sensor, a unique color filter with an irregular pattern to reduce moiré patterns and a built-in phase detection AF system. When using FUJINON lenses, the camera delivers high image quality. The new X-T10 autofocus system offers both conventional Single Point mode with 49 points for high speed and accuracy, and new zoning and wide-angle/tracking autofocus modes based on 77 points distributed over a larger area.

Zoning mode allows you to select a 3×3, 5×3, or 5×5 area in the 77-point AF area. When focusing in AF-C mode, the camera constantly tracks the subject in the center of the area. The wide-angle/tracking AF mode is a combination of wide-angle AF AF-S mode, in which the camera automatically detects and tracks the focus area within a 77-point area, and anticipatory tracking AF-C mode, in which all 77 points are used to continuously track the subject.

Single-point autofocus divides the focus area into smaller areas for more precise determination of the distance to the subject, further improving focus precision. The operating range of the phase detection AF sensor has been increased from 2.5 EV to 0.5 EV, so that phase detection AF operates quickly even in low light or low contrast scenes.

The camera features eye-detecting autofocus, which automatically focuses on human eyes. This helps keep the focus on the eyes even in difficult conditions, such as portraits with the diaphragm fully open. Auto Macro automatically switches to macro mode at the same speed as Auto Focus, eliminating the need to press the Macro button to take close-up photos. So you can assign another function to the Macro button.

The sensor’s unique phase detection AF system triggers in 0.06 sec. A high performance EXR Processor II with a start-up time of only 0.5 sec, a shutter lag of 0.05 sec, and an inter-frame delay of 0.5 sec. Combined with AF-C mode and the continuous shooting speed of up to 8 frames per second, it allows you to take high-quality photographs, typical of the X series, under a broader range of shooting conditions.

Noise reduction at the processor level is enhanced by a special arrangement of components and circuits around the sensor to reduce noise in high-sensitivity images. Achieving ISO speeds of up to 51200. Fujifilm X-T10 uses Light Modulation Optimization LMO for maximum image quality. Using the optical and other characteristics of each lens, the LMO system corrects optical distortions such as diffraction to create a sharp image over the entire area, creating a sense of spatial realism.

The X-T10 is equipped with a large, fast viewfinder with 0.62x magnification and a display delay of just 0.005s. The new 2.36 million-dot Organic EL electronic viewfinder provides the clearest and most contrast-rich view of the scene.

Also, the brightness of the picture in the viewfinder is automatically adjusted according to the level of ambient light. Live View screen can be switched to Preview Pic Effect mode. It shows a “natural” image similar to that seen with the naked eye. The eye sensor automatically detects when the camera is held vertically and adjusts the position of the information in the viewfinder, something not possible on models with an optical viewfinder.

X-T10 offers a new film simulation mode “CLASSIC CHROME” for soft tones and deep saturated colors. Ten other modes are also available, all of which mimic the colors found in traditional FUJIFILM films. These include the effects of color reversal film Velvia PROVIA ASTIA/CLASSIC CHROME , professional color negative film PRO Neg.Std PRO Neg.Hi , monochrome filters MONOCHROME, Ye filter, R filter and G filter and SEPIA. The X-T10 also offers a range of Art Filters. Users can select from eight different effects:

• Pop Color Rich Color – increases contrast and color saturation.
• Toy Camera – Creates shaded borders as if the photo was taken with a Lomo camera.
• Miniature – adds blurring to the top and bottom edges of the shot to create a diorama or miniature effect.
• Dynamic Tone – creating a fantasy effect by intensifying the colors.
• Partial Color B&W with one color saves one selected color and changes the rest of the colors to black and white. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple are selectable.
• High Key – Increase brightness and decrease contrast for color highlighting.
• Low Key – Creates uniformly dark tones with few areas of emphasis.
• Soft Focus for smooth, evenly soft images.

Multiple exposure function allows you to combine two subjects in the same photo, a great way to add people to a photo. The new model also features ADVANCED SR AUTO mode, which detects faces in the frame and all types of scenes and then automatically optimizes such parameters as focus, exposure, ISO sensitivity and more. Interval timer function lets you take photos from 1 second to 24 hours apart 999 frames in total .

The camera has a completely silent electronic shutter with a shutter speed of up to 1/32000 second. Soft Focus – takes photos even with the aperture wide open in a snowy field or on a beach with a clear sky. Quiet operation, with no mechanical moving parts, makes it easy to take pictures of sleeping children and animals. Other features include digital split image for pinpoint manual focusing and Focus Peaking for highlighting highlights in high-contrast areas of your subject’s contours. These areas can be highlighted in white, red or blue to help you choose the right focus, even in difficult conditions.

The X-T10 lets you shoot Full HD video at 60fps, and 50, 30, 25 or 24fps. When shooting movies, you can use film simulation modes, including the new “Classic Chrome” mode, and fine-tune white balance, manually adjust exposure, aperture, shutter speed and ISO sensitivity, which allows you to shoot video using your preferred exposure. Precise high-speed focusing is possible thanks to intelligent hybrid autofocus that switches between phase detection AF and contrast AF depending on the type of scene being shot, even during movie shooting. Manual focus is also available.

You can select from six scene recognition modes or opt for in-camera movie recording. 36Mbps bit rate captures even the smallest movement with utmost clarity.

By downloading and installing the free FUJIFILM Camera Remote app on their smartphone or tablet, users can control various camera functions remotely, even from a considerable distance away. It’s a great feature for a variety of scenarios, including group photos, self-portraits and taking pictures of animals in their natural habitat.

Photos and videos can be sent to your smartphone literally in one touch. Photos and videos on the camera can be viewed, selected and transferred to your smartphone. No IDs or passwords required. You can add location information from your smartphone to your photo. Wi-Fi transmission is supported, allowing data to be backed up to a computer.
