In early October, a trio of Japanese companies – seven dreamers lab, Panasonic Corporation and major developer Daiwa House – unveiled the first joint development that will complement the existing “smart home” concept. The device, named Laundroid a pun on the word “appliance” . Laundry laundry and droid is the world’s first and so far only robot that knows how to sort and fold laundry and clothes. The prototype was presented during the largest Asian innovation forum Cutting-edge IT & Electronics Comprehensive Exhibition CEATEC in Tokyo.
Seven dreamers estimate that the average person spends about 9,000 hours of their life just folding and packing laundry and clothes after the wash. That’s almost 375 days! Japan’s new robot will help save and spend that time on something more enjoyable.
In its appearance, Laundroid is very different from other robots. It looks more like a narrow, tall closet that easily fits into the interior of a modern home. Electronic stuffing, robot “hands” and auxiliary mechanisms are hidden from prying eyes. All the user needs to do is put the dry laundry in a special box and wait a few minutes.
The Laundroid recognizes the type of laundry loaded – be it a shirt, sweater or pants, thanks to a special algorithm. Then the automation activates a specific “packing” mode and the mechanical “arms” and roller system gently folds the garment, helping to avoid creases and kinks.
In the coming years, the project participants plan to develop a full-fledged closet, combining a smart washing machine, drying device and a robot that can fold clean laundry into neat stacks.
As early as next year, the parties will begin integrating Laundroid with existing smart home devices, as well as consumer electronics that support Internet and wireless connectivity. By 2019, seven dreamers, Panasonic and Daiwa House plan to finish the prototype. Pre-orders for Laundroid could start as early as 2017.

This innovation seems incredibly convenient, but I wonder if the Laundroid robot can efficiently handle different types of clothing materials, sizes, and wrinkles?
The Laundroid robot is designed to handle various types of clothing materials, sizes, and wrinkles efficiently. It uses artificial intelligence to analyze each item and determine the best way to fold it without causing damage. The robot has been tested with different fabrics and sizes, and it has shown excellent performance in recognizing and folding them correctly. However, like any technology, there may be limitations, so users should follow the guidelines provided to ensure the best results. Overall, the Laundroid robot offers a convenient solution for folding laundry quickly and efficiently.
This new innovation sounds incredible, but I wonder if the Laundroid robot is capable of handling delicate fabrics without causing any damage?
The Laundroid robot is designed to handle a wide range of fabrics, including delicate materials. It uses advanced technology and sensors to determine the best washing and drying methods for each individual item. The robot is programmed to treat delicate fabrics with care, using gentle washing and drying cycles to prevent any damage. While it’s always important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for care of delicate items, the Laundroid robot is equipped to handle even the most sensitive fabrics without causing any harm.
This sounds incredible! How efficient is the Laundroid robot when it comes to folding clothes? Can it handle different types of fabrics and sizes? How long does it typically take to fold a load of laundry? Also, is it cost-effective and easy to use for everyday households?
This sounds like an amazing innovation! I’m curious to know more about the Laundroid robot. How does it actually disassemble and fold clothes? Is it able to handle different types of clothing materials and sizes? And how efficient is it in terms of time and energy consumption?
The Laundroid robot is indeed a fascinating innovation! It uses advanced technology to disassemble and fold clothes. It utilizes image recognition and artificial intelligence algorithms to identify each item’s shape and size. With robotic arms, it gently handles delicate fabrics as well. It can handle a variety of clothing materials and sizes, making it suitable for many types of garments. As for efficiency, it saves significant time and effort for users compared to manual folding. While the exact energy consumption may vary, its creators have designed it to be energy-efficient. Overall, the Laundroid robot promises a convenient and time-saving solution for efficient clothes folding.
This sounds amazing! How efficient and convenient would it be to have a Laundroid robot handle our laundry? I’m curious to know more about its capabilities. Can it handle delicate fabrics? How long does it take to fold a whole load of clothes? Is it user-friendly? And most importantly, how can I get my hands on one of these for my home?
