Intel ushers in a new era of computing capability and improves device intelligence

Computex, Taipei, Taiwan, June 2, 2015. ā€“ Intel announces new products and solutions to support the growth of the computing ecosystem. During his keynote speech at Computex 2015, Kirk Skaugen, senior vice president and head of Intelā€™s Client Computing Group, reached out to Taiwanā€™s IT ecosystem to collaborate on defining the future of computing together.

Intel ushers in a new era of computing capability and improves device intelligence

ā€œThe potential of Mooreā€™s Law has enabled incredible computer innovations over the past 50 years, so in the future virtually all electronic devices will support computing and advanced networking capabilities,ā€ said Skaugen. ā€“ Our 30 years of collaboration with Taiwanese companies has created unique solutions ranging from personal computing to cloud computing to data centers. Over the next 30 years weā€™ll be creating even more meaningful solutions, bringing new functionality to users, and together we will realize the networking and advanced logical capabilities of the Internet of Things.

Skaugen talked about the future of computing and introduced products and platforms that will soon become an integral part of our daily lives.

Internet of Things

  • Intel announces expansion of IntelĀ® IoT Gateway. The latest gateway designs offer expanded hardware and software choices, with gateways based on the Intel processorĀ® Coreā„¢ and Wind River* Intelligent Device Platform XT 3 with flexible layout options designed for low-cost manufacturing applications.
  • With the release of Ubuntu Snappy Core* by Canonical*, Intel expanded its suite of operating systems for Intel development samplesĀ® IoT Gateway. The new software product is based on the current version of Microsoft* and Wind River*.
  • Intel announced new Intel processorsĀ® PentiumĀ®, IntelĀ® CeleronĀ® and IntelĀ® Atomā„¢ designed for the Internet of Things. New designs target retail and medical applications. Processors offer high graphics processing performance and low heat dissipation, making them optimal solutions for the Internet of Things. Corporation says new products guaranteed for 7 years.

New platforms and enhanced features

  • Intel introduced IntelĀ® Uniteā„¢ is a new business solution designed to make it easier for professionals to collaborate and increase the productivity of business meetings. With mini-PCs based on Intel processorsĀ® With IntelĀ® Coreā„¢ vProā„¢ in meeting rooms and Intel Unite apps, meeting rooms become ā€œsmart roomsā€ with advanced features and security.
  • Thunderboltā„¢ 3, a single connector that enables connectivity to Thunderbolt-enabled devices, any monitor and billions of USB devices. For the first time, a single cable can provide 4 times the data transfer rate and 2 times the video transfer rate. This technology is great for 4K video, docking stations, external graphics solutions and 10-gigabit networks. The first products based on the new technology will go on sale by the end of this year.
  • 5th generation Intel Core processor family now includes the first LGA-socket desktop processor with Irisā„¢ Pro integrated graphics, Intelā€™s most powerful client graphics solution. The 65W thermal package enables even smaller, thinner mini-PCs and desktop monoblocks that will deliver up to 2x faster 3D graphics processing performance, 35% faster video conversion speeds and 20% better overall performance than previous generation processors.1
  • Intel unveils Intel processorsĀ® Coreā„¢ 5th generation with IntelĀ® Irisā„¢ Pro for mobile devices and Internet of Things. Optimized for gamers and content creators on the go, Intelā€™s fastest mobile processors feature the Intel Iris Pro 6200 graphics system, offering up to 2x the performance and twice the 3D graphics processing power of their previous generation.2 Great for medical and industrial use, with support for mission-critical features to build powerful IoT systems, including support for error-correcting memory and Intelā€™sĀ® vProā„¢. The new products will be available for 7 years.
  • Intel announced a partnership with Targus* for Rezence* wireless charging solutions , and an agreement with Chinaā€™s Haier* to install wireless charging solutions in restaurants, hotels, cafes and airports in China this year . In addition, Intel will work with A4WP alliance members, Foxconn Interconnect* and Basecom*, and electronics manufacturers BYD*, Primax* and Kokuyo*, to develop a wireless charging solution.

Data Centers

Intel unveils Intel processor familyĀ® Xeon Ā® E3-1200 v4, which are the first to feature integrated IntelĀ® Irisā„¢ Pro P6300. Built on 14nm process technology for graphics-intensive workloads, including high-definition video transcoding, the product family delivers up to 1.4x greater video conversion performance3 and up to 1.8 times faster 3D graphics processing performance4 compared with the previous generation of processors.
