New York, October 17, 2012 – OKI launches new LED printers enabling printing with white toner. They will enable medium and small businesses to solve many printing tasks quickly and cost-effectively. OKI was the first company on the world market to introduce this technology.
“Much of OKI’s success is based on technological innovation,” says OKI Europe managing director Terry Laidlaw. – With our new white printing devices, we’ve created tremendous opportunities for end users to improve their competitiveness by making it possible to print much of the material they need in-house right in the office.”.
The new white toner printers are an addition to the line of existing color business printing solutions. They can be used for transferring images on T-shirts, ceramics, printing on films and stickers for creating original advertising materials. The devices can also be successfully used for point-of-sale window dressing, stickers to place on car windows and much more.
“Previously, similar technologies were based on inkjet, dye-sublimation or screen printing,” says OKI Europe Marketing Manager Paul Ingram. – New devices will find their niche in the market, for example, in such areas as clothes decoration, printing of control or small-batch packaging materials, in other words, where the technologies currently in use are high in cost, complexity in maintenance, and a relatively long production process.
The new line of printers that support white toner printing includes two devices. The C711WT A4 printer offers full-color CMYW printing at 8ppm, with higher toner capacity./8 ppm in color on transparencies and 34 ppm on plain paper. The C920WT A4/A3 is designed for heavy use and high volume printing at 10ppm transparent film ./minute and 31 pages./min respectively. In so doing, it has a larger toner capacity.
“OKI’s new white toner products are versatile and easy to use, with no need to wait for the print to dry, which together make printing much faster and more cost-effective. At the same time, the sustainability of the resulting prints, which is as good as embossing, makes the new device an excellent solution for a wide range of different applications using white, along with other colors,” comments Paul Ingram.

This sounds intriguing! I’m curious about the advantages of having white toner in an LED printer. How does it enhance the printing capabilities and what kind of applications or materials is it most commonly used for?
