Fujifilm X-E2 mirrorless camera review

The E in the index was originally conceived as a slightly “trimmed down” version of X-Pro1. Despite its less glamorous appearance, it is noticeably lighter there is less metal in the construction and more compact. The original exposure control system is retained in full. The Hybrid Viewfinder, which, as mentioned before, has its disadvantages, has given way to a fully electronic counterpart. With all that, the X-E2 is a bit more expensive than its larger sibling.

No error here. As you can easily guess, this camera is the second generation of E-series. The X-Pro1 and X-E1 were equipped in accordance with the top “system” cameras in 2012, but the current model has a much more modern set of features and functions. There is Wi-Fi with remote control, and a full-fledged Full HD video mode with 60 frames per second in progressive scanning. Sound can be recorded using not only the internal microphone, but also an external microphone. The camera has room for a built-in flash. It hides completely in the body and does not spoil the appearance of the apparatus, styled like an antique. The second-generation X-Trans CMOS sensor retains all the strengths of the previous version, but with built-in hybrid focus sensors. Handling of manual focus is now aided by three separate help modes: magnification, focus peaking – highlighting contrasting borders on the screen or viewfinder, and digital split image – imaging information from phase difference sensors. EXR Processor II is equipped with image diffraction compensation and moiré reduction algorithms. Its overall performance has improved dramatically, and camera response is uncritical.

Still no scene modes or autofocus, but a number of pleasing additions in the form of panorama and multiple exposure modes.
